Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders, Snatcher and (most importantly) Boktai designer Hideo Kojima is no longer shackled to a desk in a basement at Konami’s HQ. That means he’s free to work on whatever he likes, putting that very strange brain of his to use in something other than the exploits of a sneaky, one-eyed clone.
He’s been in not so secret meetings lately with director Guillermo Del Toro and actor Norman Reedus – both of whom had previously been attached to Kojima and Konami’s Silent Hills reboot. That sort of clandestine collusion has led to many thinking that the trio were set to resume work on Silent Hills or something like its teaser, the infamous, erased-from-history P.T.
That’s probably not happening. In an interview with Polygon, the revered game designer has said that a game like Silent Hills or PT is unlikely.
“P.T. in a way for us was also an experiment to understand many things. Silent Hills, I don’t think that will ever happen. I would definitely like to explore horror and by horror I don’t mean horror as a genre, but more like the feeling of terror as a theme, as a topic and this is one aspect that gets really close to interactivity of scariness so that is something I would be interested in exploring in the future.”
“After P.T. there were similar games that were released or were developed. Personally, I don’t want to do something that is in the same tone, I would prefer to do something that takes a different approach and a different perspective to it,” he added.
We’ve seen a number of P.T-like games since Silent Hills was axed, including the likes of Allison Road and Visage – so I understand why Kojima wouldn’t want to tread those same waters.

He’s embracing “transmedia”, so whatever he comes up with next will probably scare the shit out of you on your console/pc/tv/smartphone/media player/microvawe oven/kettle etc.etc.

My wife asked me why I carry my gun around the house. I looked her straight in the eye and said “The effin’ Decepticons” She laughed, I laughed, the microwave oven laughed, I shot the microwave oven. It was a good time

How do you know she wasn’t laughing because she’s a Decepticon, just like the microwave. I saw that in the one Transformers movie.

Last time I had P.T was in primary school, and a terror of an ‘Onnie’ making 11 year old me plank for like a period.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that I am a bit out of touch today with what is happening…
