These days, it’s easier to outsource game testing to your consumers than it is to the hive of despair and misery known as QA. It’s free, developers can actually find out if their game can handle thousands of people playing it and have it ready for launch day. You know, unlike that other game. You know the one I’m talking about. The alpha for Evolve kicks off next week. Here’s what you’ll need in order to handle it.
Turtle Rock has the minimum and recommended PC system requirements for the test below. These aren’t the final system requirements however, as there’s still a ton of optimization to go before the game ships in February:
Minimum specs
- CPU:
– Intel Pentium D 3GHz or higher
– AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 6400 2.4 GHz or higher - RAM: 4GB
- GPU:
– AMD Radeon 5770 or higher
– NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or higher - HDD: 15GB Install
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- Whether you’re using a lower-end PC or just value frame-rates over quality: We turned down the settings a bit and turned off AA to get some extra frames on an older test rig in the office.
Recommended specs
- CPU:
– Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz or higher
– AMD A8-3870 3GHz or higher - RAM: 6GB RAM
- GPU:
– AMD Radeon R9 280 or higher
– NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or higher - HDD: 15GB Install
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- Higher-end PC gamers: You will obviously push to Ultra settings and dial back as needed.
Xbox One owners, will need the following:
- The console
- A decent ADSL/Wireless line
- Smug satisfaction to deflect the usual jibes and barbs from the PC crowd
Now I’m no PC expert. In fact, I am a PC pillock/dolt/imbecile, so I’m going to forgo mentioning these specs being decent or high. So, what do you reckon? Easy to run or a breaker of GPUs?

That’s pretty low compared to AC:Unity, I guess that means the game isn’t as good. 😉

They just can’t get it as cinematic without Ubisoft’s help

From now on we should not ask if it can run Crysis. We should ask if it can run AC:Unity!

Rather ask “Can it run Uplay?”.

See now why can’t more dev’s actually optimize there games like they have
As a minimum requirement GTX 560 is logical, A 680 is just plain lazy, yes I’m looking at you ubiwedontoptimizebecause900p30fpsneedsultraspecsforcinematicexperienceuplayisevilSoft

And this is running a very demanding CryEngine too.

I am actually really shocked at those minimum specs.
That’s really not that beefy at all.
Even the recommended specs are not that bad. Nice.

This is the right way to optimise 🙂

I did notice that recently, no game is offering 32 bit any more.
When did that become the norm?

Start of this year more or less. Lets face it 4Gb of ram can’t cut it anymore.

How is Evolve’s system requirements for Ultra the same as AC:Unity’s minimum?
Clearly Evolve is going to look like crap

Takes more processing power to bypass the Hidden PC system settings so AC does not look better on PC than PS4.

Evolve has a different visual style compared to ACU, and Tutrle Rock studios is making Evolve, the responsible for counter strike and L4D, so they should know how to optimize a game properly unlike ACU where it seems they more interested in cramming in as much high res detail as possible, hence the high requirements.

I was being sarcastic 🙂 I am trolling AC:U’s high requirements wherever I can 🙂
