It’s not easy being a kid at school. Face facts, when we’re young, we’re freakin’ monsters, and the second we see something that indicates that anotehr child is “different”, we’ll ostracise them with maximum prejudice. That’s the case for Katie Goldman, a young Star Wars fan who was bullied because she loved the sci-fi trilogies of a galaxy far, far away. And then the bad guys stepped in to help her out.
The iconic Star Wars cosplay group, the 501st Legion came out to give Goldman a hand for her Halloween costume this year. Also known as the bad guys who do good, they crafted a custom Stormtrooper costume for her. And it’s pretty much as authentic as it can be.
With input and expertise from some of the finest builders in the 501st, the suit itself was built from plans that were used in the original Star Wars films. The only condition for the suit? That Katie has to return it when she outgrows it, so that it can be used for charity.
Now that’s how you spread positive brand awareness. And fight bullying. Because when Darth Vader has your back with a legion of troopers, you know that you’re winning.
