Hearts of Stone, the first real expansion for the Witcher 3 is coming soon. Well, soon-ish. It’s scheduled to arrive at some point in October, bringing new content for those who’ve played through the game, and possibly even run though a second time thanks to new game plus.
If that’s the case for you, you’ll be happy to know that the new content scales with your level, so it’ll be fine to play if you’ve managed to hit level 60 or higher! In fact, the DLC kinda of presumes that you’re sufficiently far in the game, and have attained a high enough level. CDPR community managed Marcim Momot confirmed as much on Twitter, replying to a fan that the quests in the DLC are set for level 30 and higher.
@savroRus You can play it after/during the main story. The HoS quests will be level 30+ though.

According to CDPR, the DLC, included in the game’s season pass, will bring over ten hours of new content, making one of the year’s largest, most expansive and best received games even bigger, and presumably, better. That’s all fine and well – but we know very little else about the expansion. That changes today – though not by much. CDPR is teasing the thing, the coy buggers. Here’s a look at the brand new teaser for Hearts of Stone:
Step again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, this time hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality. The expansion lets you choose your own way through an adventure that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.

What shit is this. It looks like the expansion pack will be sold in retail with gwent decks, which is cool, and a fucking download code. Oh you couldn’t put that shit on a disc, you know making the expansion part of the game a collectible item.
Why are you selling digital shit in a fucking box at retail. Am I buying the fucking expansion of the game or am I buying gwent cards.
The code gets linked to an online account for the expansion to download. In a retail product. Fuck that.

does anyone know if you can purchase the season pass from another platform and apply it to your gog version. I mean I love CDPR but they work in $ currently the season pass costs R350($25) but on origins it costs R250

Their description of it doesnt sound all that much like an expansion, dont see what makes it more than just average DLC.
assuming its an all new island/area to visit and will have about as much content as skellige, without the main story line missions, which i guess im ok with.

Well they’re calling it an expansion pack, rather than a classic run of the mill expansion. And since it has a season pass, I am pretty sure everyone understands that it is DLC. But I suspect they wanted to avoid using the term DLC because of the negative public perception?
And because people like Ryanza exist. That’d be a reason to use pretty much any other word.
Like DRM…

They’re differentiating between DLC & expansion based on the amount of content they contain.
My dilemma, as someone who preordered the CE but not the expansion pass, is: Do I want to order the boxed edition to get those sweet Gwent decks or not hehe.

“expansion pack”
because marketing.
my list of hate is getting rather full, marketing has dropped to a similar position to taxis.

This one is supposed to take place in & around Oxenfurt, so little in the way of new areas I guess, and should be around 10 hours worth of stuff. The next one will have a whole new location & easily double the amount of play time.

since its there already and already begging for a story.
