An unnamed “film producer” approached Team Meat, developers of the delightfully difficult platformer Super Meat Boy to make a film adaptation of their hit indie game “Super Meat Head,” which must immediately have set alarm bells ringing. you’d imagine they’d have just put the phone down. They didn’t.
Instead, they invited the quite obvious scammer for a Skype chat, and proceeded to record the session. that in itself may break one or two laws, but they got the scammer; they got the scammer good.
The “producer” wanted to take $4000 from the developers to plan a Super Meat Boy movie, and then a further $12,000 to get a script, – with half of their money returned within six months, and then obviously major profits from the completed movie.
It’s painful and awkward – but borders on genius. Listen out for the bit where Team Meat says that Microsoft owes them $7 million, but they won’t sue the Redmond giant because Microsoft knows that they know that Kinect is a giant lie; there’s really just a guy behind the screen moving a mouse.
