If there was ever a time to play Starbound, it’s now. The latest patch is the absolute last character wipe, so all character progress will be saved in later updates. Chucklefish confirmed on their development blog that the latest patch came out yesterday.
For those of you who don’t know, Starbound is a space exploration game which combines elements of Terarria-style mining and randomly generated planets. The new update along with the big news of characters saving over updates mentions bug fixes, a new savannah biome, new animations for certain actions, hidden landmines and new alien attacks other than the standard ranged or melee attacks. One of the more notable changes was your character applying bandages rather than eating bandages, which is a nice touch.
Chucklefish also hope that planets won’t be erased in later updates, but they make no promises regarding that, which is a little worrying. Still, this early release indie gem is shaping up to be a hell of a game. Like most early release games, you should be wary that this is not a finished game and bugs may still be present in this build. It’s good that Chucklefish are constantly updating it and have now removed what I would imagine has stopped many people playing. If you like randomly generated games like Terraria and space exploration interests you, I can’t recommend Starbound enough. Now that you get to keep your character after updating, with more content coming, there’s even more impetus to try Starbound out.

Terraria is a smoother, more polished, better looking, better quality game.

It has also been around for a lot longer than this game, Starbound is still early access.

It’s also not the same game as Terraria, but the comparisons are going to be made, so I mentioned it.

I do not know why people compare Apples with Oranges. *double facepalm* … when one is not enough….

Because if all i eat is apples and you eat apples, oranges and meat… then your going to compare the Oranges to Apples when i ask you about it…
And to be more closer to the right statement… it more like comparing Apples to Pears…
