It looks like we’ve got another developer that’s not managed to make it through the generation. Reports are in that Terminal Reality has closed down. The company most recently made the frankly terrible Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.
Before that, they did quite a bit of work on the also terrible Kinect: Star Wars which was a bit of a waste of a licence, if you ask me. What you probably know the company most for, if you’ve been playing games for a while is the decent, but not exceptional BloodRayne; a story of a female vampire killer with a particularly sexy set of…weapons. If you;’ve been playing games even longer, you might recall arcade space shooter Terminal Velocity, and the similar Fury3.
The unfortunate news comes via one of its senior artists, Jesse Sosa, who said the following on his personal Facebook page (via Gamasutra)
“For those that have known me for a long time know that I was at TRI for 10 years. TRI seems to have finally shut down. A lot of different emotions are passing through me at the moment. I left there when I saw things going downhill but I have always kept up with them and hoped for the best.
“Now that they’re gone, I’m just kind of feeling nostalgic it seems. I hope they all land on their feet. Most of those guys are still like family to me. I know a good amount are on their way to Austin, so at least I’ll be seeing them soon.”
Next year would have marked the studio’s 20th year anniversary. Looking at the studios most recent output, I can’t really say I’m particularly surprised, but it’s never nice to see people losing their jobs.

Can’t really say I am going to miss them…? Apathy might be the right word here…

Terrible games? Terrible Reality? Terminal Velocity was awesome though! GOG has it for 6$ and it’s only 78MB big O_o

I will always know them for the rather excellent Ghostbusters game on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Made a few okay fun games actually surprised they lasted this long. Many a developer has come and gone in the last 20 years with much better IP.
