Man, if there is one market of consumers out there that has some disposable income to splash around, it’s the nostalgic gamers out there who are dying for some old school RPG action. Planescape Torment was a legendary game back in ye old day of 1999, but the Dungeons and Dragons game never saw a sequel. Until now that is, when developer inXile put up a Kickstarter campaign asking for close to a million Washingtons for it. They got it within six hours.
Torment: Tides of Numenera is the spiritual successor to that classic game, and in order to get some momentum for it, InXile needed $900 000. They got that kind of scratch in 6 hours, and as of the time of writing, they’re sitting pretty with over $1.5 million in the bank. And there are still 29 days left to go. At an average of $53 per backer , it looks like the gaming community is keen for this sequel. Oh, and in case you’re wondering if you should suppport the game, know that InXile is going to make Tides of Numenera a DRM-free title that will be developed on the UNITY! engine for PC, Mac and Linux.
Sounds rad. There are still plenty of goals which net you extra goodies in addition to the game, so now might be a good time to get in on this. Hell, I’m tempted to buy the big ol’ collector’s edition just so that I can feel what it’s like to hold a big boxed game in my hands again.

This was one amazing kickstarter project….CAN NOT WAIT! Ordered the $45 one for the Wasteland 2 / Torment combo. So hopefully Oct/Nov will have Wasteland 2 to play.
