Call of Duty Black Ops is a sales phenomenon, outselling just about every other game on the planet by a wide margin. The game tallied sales of over $650 million in worldwide revenue in its first five days alone. If retailer pre-orders are anything to go by, Modern Warfare 3 may obliterate those sales records.
Tom Devine, managing director of UK-based retailers GAME said “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders are already tracking significantly ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops at the same time last year. We know that the Call of Duty brand and franchise has the most amazing fan-base and we’ve got some great surprises lined up for those who pre-order with us. We’re looking forward to an incredible launch on 8th November."
MW3 is getting pre-ordered or is expected to sell like lead-dispensing hotcakes – but I’m not entirely sure it’s going to outsell Black Ops. There’s an increasing number of gamers, it seems, who’ve grown tired of Call of Duty’s barely different annual releases. thing is? Many of the particularly vociferous naysayers will end up buying the game anyway.
We’ll see just how well the game does when it launches at the beginning on November.
