And so it has begun. The Lazygamer Advanced Warfare Tournament kicked off 30 Jan with 35 teams registered to battle it out for the PS4 Lazygamer CoD Champion Title. I must say that I am impressed – with my expectations surpassed on the amount of teams that registered, making it as far as I know, the biggest local CoD tournament on console to date. So a big thank you to all the teams and players that registered.
If any of you were watching Gavin’s twitter you would have seen that we have streamed 3 of the games so far with some commentating which has been a lot of fun and proved difficult as well. It seems you definitely need a certain finesse when it comes to live broadcasting and match commentating. However Gavin and I have managed to handle it quite well with the aid of our trusty alcoholic beverages.
The first game streamed was ExiLe Gaming vs FelonY Gaming which went in ExiLe Gaming’s favour comfortably winning the match 3-0. ExiLe showed themselves to be a strong team shutting down FelonY with ease. The Hardpoint was played on Retreat where Exile dominated majority of the control zones. Unfortunately for FelonY, they had a player disconnect 3 minutes into the game which I am sure added to their frustration. The Search and Destroy was played on Bio Lab with Exile favouring site A for bomb plant while FelonY favoured site B. In the end, Exile Gaming proved to be a well co-ordinated team and managed to wrap it up comfortably 6-1. The final map played was Uplink on Comeback which result in rather soul crushing defeat for FelonY with Exile scoring 20 goals to FelonY’s 1 goal.
The second match Gavin and myself streamed and commentated over was vVv vs VeGA eSports. vVv won 3-0 but in certainly one of the most well fought matches I’ve seen. vVv started off comfortably in Hardpoint on Solar taking an early lead of 50 points but once the VeGA team got settled there was a big battle for spawn points and map rotation. In the end however, vVv proved too strong and closed out the Hardpoint with 142 point difference. The Search and Destroy played on Detroit turned out be one of the most exciting games to watch with vVv taking an early lead of 5-1. However VeGA weren’t going down without a fight and clawed it back to 5-4. However vVv again managed to finish it off, getting that last point needed taking it 6-4. The Uplink match on Bio Lab proved to be an extremely fast paced match with vVv taking an early 2-0 lead. VeGA almost managed to tie up the game which would have forced an overtime but once again vVv showed their class and closed it out 6-4. The third match streamed was the number one Xbox team en F34R vs a new PS4 team Ballistic Sons and I do apologize to Ballistic Sons. If there was ever a team that could blame random.org for being unfair, it should be them for being matched up against F34R. Speaking to the Ballistic Sons before the match, I found out they were mostly BF4 players who had entered for the fun of it and to see what CoD competitive matches were like. Needless to say F34R showed them exactly why they were the number one Xbox competitive team. F34R wrapped up the Hardpoint on Biolab with 248 point win, the Search and Destroy on Riot closed out just as quickly 6-0 and the Uplink on Detroit was a quick 20-0. Along with arranging team captains into Whatsapp lobbies, I have been working on collecting player stats for every game since we also need these to determine prizes for MVP, Best Objective Player, etc. For some players these stats are only after 1 match has been played but I will be interested to see how it develops the further we get into the tournament. So with 2 games left in Round 2, the final 16 teams in Round 3 should be playing their matches over this weekend, Eskom dependent. I’ll be streaming more matches as we head up towards the finals with the next big match scheduled to stream, RawR vs SoNiK Black Friday at 20:00. If there any delays due to Eskom I’ll make sure that the Tweets go out well within time and the proposed new time for the stream. So if you are interested and want to watch some CoD competitive matches join us at: http://www.twitch.tv/lazygamernet
A big Thank You to Telkom LTE for sponsoring the LTE B593 router and data which has made the streaming of the tournament possible. If anyone is interested in the sponsored connection and looking for a good deal please contact Christo on phone 081 313 2960 or email AucampCJ@telkom.co.za
And now, I leave you with this video below showing some of the clips I have received and pulled off the stream. Remember we are doing a Top 10 video at the end of the tournament, so get your clips to me.

Thanks budd. Enjoying it but finding it very time consuming as well. I see why Gavin didn’t start one before. Now if Eskom would just kindly leave on the electricity so games can be played then we will be on schedule.
