If there’s one Xbox 360 exclusive that I’m looking forward to this year, it’s Gears of War: Judgement. Of course, that’s because it’s the only Xbox 360 exclusive this year – but I’m actually keen to see what Bulletstorm and Painkiller developers People Can Fly does with the franchise in epic’s stead.
I don’t know how many of you played the PC version of the first Gears of War (the only one released on PC to date) – but the extra content included in that version was actually created by People Can Fly, and it was one of the most fun bits of the game.
Microsoft has released a new video they’re calling “The Guts of Gears,” taking a look at “the dynamic Smart Spawn System, new weapons, dynamic defense scenarios, Declassified Missions, new player rewards, and more”.
[field name=iframe]I’m slowly growing excited – though I do think it’s a bit too much Gears, too soon, and that probably diminishes its impact a little. I know a few hardcore Gearsheads who don’t even have this game on their radars (possibly to their own detriment).
There’s a bit of good news for those who’re as yet uninitiated though; early copies of Judgement will include a token to download the original Gears of War from Xbox Live, for free – so they’ll be able to go straight from Judgement, which serves as a prequel, to the first Gears (which is arguably still the best one).
As an aside, I refuse to spell “Judgement” with US spelling. Refuse.
