What a weird week I’ve had. Between a stomach bug and some crazy migraines, I’m not really sure what day it is. I’ve been informed that it’s Wednesday, but I have no reason to believe the trolls I work with. Except Geoff. He only lies sometimes, except about motion controls, because those are serious business.

The iRobot. Still seems like a poor version of ED-209

If it was iRobot as in Apple “i” then it would be a year behind on tech but everyone would buy it anyway and say it’s bestest. ;P

And Samsung would copy and release their own improved version

And HTC would be sitting off to the side, laughing at both of them while it’s sending its robots to Jupiter. 🙂

I LOVE Asimov’s books. I own most of the Sci-fi books he wrote, plus some others (took years to collect)
BUT I did not enjoy I Robot and I sure as heck did not enjoy the movie Until my wife said just look at it like an actiony movie. I did and it was ok.

I did the same. iRobot was a nice sci-fi action, but I get what you’re saying, needed some different perspective.

I, Robot was never even a screenplay even based on Asimov series of stories.
The production company changed the characters names and title, chucked in a few references to the books to cash in on the Asimov name.

I know. What is the one with Robin Williams? that is the one I was referring to. That was a a short story I have at home

Bicentennial man, better but still no cigar.
Just feel that Asimov’s work will never really translate well to screen.

That is the name! Could not stand that book. Never finished it, one of the few.
Elijah Bailey and his robot “friend” R Daneel Olivaw (And Giskard too), solving murders and weird crimes (Robots of Dawn, Caves of Steel and so on) are very, very good Robot books because the point of the book is the good plot, not the Robots. They happen to be there and we happen to explore the role of robots as great plot devices, not as the point of the work.
And I live in fear of Foundation, the Series they are making.

Since it is a series I have this slither of hope that it be ok. Luckily I read the books so long ago I will be able to view it as a standalone series 🙂

I have read them several times, unfortunately. I remember them very well and with much fondness. The fact that last one was written in the 1980’s and still retains a certain style is just amazing.

Still remember the Army of Two review years ago. My wife heard some of it, insisted I start from scratch. It was brilliant.

Will rewatch a little later, when the others have, shall we say, left. I would say stop working, but I just walked around my office and I fear that ship has sailed.
