We knew that Battlefield 4 was coming. After the phenomenal success of Battlefield 3 in finally taking a decent sized slice of Activision’s shooter pie, a sequel was pretty much a given; we just had no idea that the game – which doesn’t officially exist yet – was in a state to be shown off. Apparently it is though, and EA’s already been showing it of behind closed doors.
Got to see Battlefield 4 today and all I can say is WOW! Thanks @ea for the sneak peek. Can’t wait for you all to see it. ^CEO #BF4

What’s the word of Gamestop CEO J Paul Raines. the tweet was retweeted by EA’s account – so it’s information that they’re comfortable sharing.
The big question is whether or not the next Battlefield will be for the current crop of consoles, or the next ones from Microsoft and Sony. If it’s worth showing off already, and it is destined for next-gen, there’s a fair chance we might even get a glimpse of it later at Sony’s “Future of PlayStation” event.

My vote is for next gen. It’s probably an early version that they’re showing off. I just hope it comes with Oculus Rift support. Imagine flying a jet fighter with Oculus Rift! YEAH!
