Back in February, it was announced that Starbreeze (the developer behind The Darkness) would be partnering with Electronic Arts to revive one of EA’s classic franchises for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. What franchise that would be wasn’t revealed at the time, but according to a rumor being floated by CVG, it’s none other than Bullfrog’s cult favorite PC series, Syndicate.
As CVG reports, a “secret agent” has tipped them off that EA is getting set to reveal the Syndicate revival soon. There are really no other details besides that, so take this info with a healthy amount of incredulity for now.
Syndicate, if you’re unaware, was a PC game developed by Bullfrog and released in 1993. It put players in control of a corporation in a “cyperpunk” future world, where they controlled a team of cyborgs as they attempted to assassinate rivals from other syndicates and rescue captured allies. A sequel, Syndicate Wars, was released in 1996.
Taking into account what could be done graphics wise these days and the fact that Syndicate wars was hailed for its narrative, we could be in for a treat.
