I have to admit, I’m still enjoying a few minutes of Destiny every now and then when I get the chance. That’s probably because I have yet to reach the level cap and be forced to deal with the game’s annoying loot drops. Now I won’t have to either, with Bungie making Destiny’s loot system a little more fair.
The patch that high level Destiny players have been waiting for finally dropped yesterday. The new patch addresses weeks worth of loot issues, especially when it comes to that troll of a Cryptarch. Probably the most hated NPC in the Tower, the Cryptarch has had a forcible change of heart, dishing out loot a little more evenly.
With the new patch, Rare and Legendary engrams will never decrypt into an item that is of a lesser rarity. On top of that, Rare engrams have had their Legendary drop rate increased, making higher level progressions far less frustrating. Or, at least, in principle it does. The engrams still aren’t locked to your specific class, although I do think there should be some level of luck in the equation.
In addition to fixing the Cryptarch, Destiny will now also reward daily players handsomely. Rare and Legendary items can now be awarded for the completion of Daily and Weekly Heroic Missions, as well as the Vanguard: Tiger Strike playlist. It gives players more of a reason to log on for an hour or two each day, which works in the game’s favour.
I’m still crawling up to level 20, so I can’t say for sure whether these changes will have the impact players are hoping for. But it is good to see Bungie taking criticism to heart and fixing things rather quickly. I just wonder whether any of these changes will keep people playing for the rest of the year.

Shweet… More reason to do the Daily missions. I’m kinda in limbo with my character at the moment – I’ve hit the “not enought Ascendant Shards” wall and need to get more of those, pronto! Plus a legendary weapon or 2 wouldn’t hurt. 🙂
Last night was actually the first time I didn’t play at least an hour of Destiny almost since it launched… Was a bit busy putting together boxes and packing for my move.

I finally got up to Vanguard level 2. So I bought all the armor I could and dismantled each for two shards, also if you do a public event (schedules are online and there’s a android app for it) you can possibly earn ascendant materials. Plus the post master rewards you materials after completing your first event. Not sure if it has to be gold tier but most of the events in old Russia is pretty easy so you can look into that.

Yeah, I’m gonna start leveling up my Vanguard as soon as I’ve reached Monarchy Level 3 (almost there – then I can buy legendary weapons).
For the public events, I keep getting rewarded with Ascendant Blasts (I’m assuming that’s needed for Legendary Weapons? I’ve found no use for them till now, and legendary weapons are the only thing I’m missing). I have like 25 of them now… So assuming that once I finally do get a Legendary weapon, I’ll be able to upgrade it post-haste.

Yes it’s for legendary weapons and yes it’s more than enough the level up a weapon all the way. You need 18 shards for either weapons or armour I think.

Shweet! Hopefully tonight or in the next few nights, a Legendary weapon shall be mine! 🙂

Shards comes easier the more you level up I feel. Mostly because you can do higher level strikes which possibly gives higher rewards and possibly legendary items that you can dismantle

Didn’t they remove shards from dismantling gear? used to get a few, but nothing now after the last update last week

About that, you only get loot once for the daily heroic mission. When the icons coloured in it means you’ve done it already, go figure.

Yeah, Hammer didn’t deserve loot that run, so it was distributed to the non-slakkers…

I missed out on all this Destiny noise.
Could someone please give me the summarised version of what happened and why?

It used to be that if you found a legendary engram it could be decoded into a blue or green item. Now it will always decode into purple maybe even exotic. Also strike mission always gives rewards, well Tiger one anyways.

I remember doing a strike mission on hard in the beta and using nearly every bullet I had only to walk out with some chump change.
It’s quite strange that they took this long to fix it.

They don’t want the level cap to be reached so soon I guess.

I think I’m going to shelf Destiny till after early 2015, hopefully in a few months it will be a different game – or alternatively a wasteland of broken dreams.

I have been playing only the hunter because well….that’s the class I chose and want to play. I have gotten 9 pieces of legendary armor, and one legendary from engrams. 100% of those pieces have been for a warlock which happens the be the one and only class I have zero interest in playing. Now I just can’t bring myself to get back on and farm gear for a class I will never play. I have had to buy every single piece of rare armor for my hunter and will never pass lvl 27 w/o getting better gear from random drops. Now I’m okay with earning gear and even with some chance involved, but in my personal case there is no chance. it is all warlock gear. You lost me forever destiny and I have more buyers remorse from this game than any previous game in my long history of playing them. I sprung for the PS4 for this damn game before it came out. Should have just wasted my time on it on my PS3 and waited for a game worth buying the PS4. Oh well live and learn and don’t wast another second on this elitist bullshit of a game.
