For a while, the developers of Painkiller and Bulletstorm operated under Epic Games, as Epic Games Poland. They’re the folks responsible for the last, tepid, Gears of War game, Judgment. They’ve now been let loose from under Epic’s thumb, ready to inflict their brand of games on the world again as People Can Fly.
Right now, they’re still doing work for Epic games, helping on the engine that’ll soon power everything, Unreal Engine 4. They’re also working with Epic on Fortnite. But they’re now back to being an independent studio. Hooray!
“We, as a People Can Fly team, are extremely excited about new possibilities ahead of us,” said Studio head Wojciechowski. “We’re going to work on a new game, while continuing to partner with Epic and use UE4. We’re grateful to Tim [Sweeney, Epic Games Founder and CEO] and the whole Epic team for our long and successful collaboration.”
They’ll also be working on a new game of their own which they’ve suggested may, perhaps, be a shooter.
“Our DNA is AAA shooters and we’ve just started a journey to bring you our new game. So please stay tuned!”
While I’m hardly one to request sequels, I’d very much like sequels to both Bulletstorm (an IP that People Can Fly owns) and to Painkiller, because nothing beats impaling bad guys with stakes, and guns that shoot shurikens and lightning.
While Painkiller did end up getting a sequel by way of Hell and Damnation, it was developed by The Farm 51 and failed to live up to the standards set by its predecessor.

I never got this game to work, I dont know, i guess it was one those, you buy, you install, fight with EA to get your online password sorted out, eventually when you get to playing the game few hours later, buggy, just through it at the back of the pile. I think its also cos it was one of those first few games that forced you to go online and you were not ready for the online thing. And also it was a five pack game that came with need for speed, so was more interested in NFS.

I feel your pain, the only way of getting it to work was to literally crack it…which is stupid and completely unnecessary….

I agree with the new/remastered Bulletstorm, especially with UE4, that would be pretty gory and epic!

Agree with you there on Painkiller Geoff, it was a awesome game, still have the black edition pack, the second third titles think I played the first few levels, then uninstalled the game.

The only problem I ha with bulletstorm was GFWL… I bought the game, tried to install it, not once, not twice, but eight times, yes, you read that correctly, EIGHT times….So after failing so many times, I downloaded the cracked exe file pasted it and played, it was literally the only way I could get it to work… But if they release a sequel, please let it come to steam…

Sweet, now make a new shooter just as fun as Painkiller or Bulletstorm.
