Sony’s software engineers just can’t seem to get things right at the moment. Since the introduction of the PlayStation 4 2.0 update, Sony’s angular black box has been about as stable as our own Darryn after a single alcoholic beverage. That is to say, not at all. Many users have been complaining of issues since the last firmware, 2.01, came along to fix that annoying Rest Mode issue. There’s a new one on the way, to fix the issues that fix itself introduced.
PS4 system software update v2.02 is coming soon, and will improve system software stability during use of some features, games, and apps
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) November 11, 2014
Sony revealed the impending patch on Twitter in the wee hours of this morning….and maybe this time, they’ll get it right. I’ve personally had no issue with the PS4 since the 20.1 update came along to fix my rest mode woes. I do have to commend Sony though, on fixing these issues quickly – even if they shouldn’t have been there in the first place. As with the last one, this update will very likely weigh in at around 200Mb and should start rolling out right about now.
Aside from the oft-requested DLNA and media player functionality, what new rudimentary featured would you like to see added to the PS4? I’d love for the ability to have notifications if friends are playing the same game, much like the Xbox has had for what seems an eternity.

Eish… Nog ‘n update?! I’ve had no issues since 2.01. Hope this one doesn’t, in itself, cause more issues that need to be fixed in 2.03…
I just wanna game…

Mine started doing a weird thing or two like not being able to be routed through my HDMI hub/switch. I can only get signal through to my television with a direct connection now.
EDIT: Otherwise it has been fine

Can you disable bi-directional communication or CEC commands on the hub?

Nope, it’s an old unit I imported about 5yrs ago when they were still retailing here for over 2k. I need to get a new one at some point but my television has 4 inputs which only leaves me 2 short atm for devices I seldom use/need.

This article is a bit misguided. Obviously 2.02 isn’t here to fix problems that were caused by 2.01, but rather to fix OTHER problems associated with the big 2.0 release.

Still is very strange that two “fixes” are needed to repair an official patch on a standard platform that should have been thoroughly tested before being released. This is where M$ have always excelled over $ony imo.

Is anyone else frustrated with the lack of apps on a South African account? Not even the YouTube app is available. I know that I can just create a US account and do some IP magic to fool the authorities but it feels wrong somehow. Is it really just me?

Cool thanx! I haven’t logged on since 2.0 so I’ll get it when I do. Still, there is a serious lack of apps in comparison with other regions. I know most are subscription services that are limited due to country specific distribution licenses but up until now I only had access to IGN, WWE and an audio settings app.

Lulz. Wow SONY, it’s not like your attention is split with other ventures, not since your other electronics sections are being closed down.
