Well, the first big reveal out of San Diego Comic-Con has happened, and it’s Marvel-ous! During the scheduled panel for Luke Cage – Marvel’s next Netflix series, which sees Mike Colter reprise his role as the titular badass bar owner with the invulnerable skin and super strength – the studio decided to turn it into a three-for-one extravaganza for fans. Not only was the first footage and a new trailer for Luke Cage debuted to the fans in attendance, but they also revealed the first look at the upcoming Iron Fist series, as well as the very first teaser for The Defenders, the planned Avengers-like mini-series that will see all Marvel’s Netflix characters teaming up.

But enough of my jabbering! Let’s get to the footage! First up, Luke Cage himself:

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Sweet Christmas! He’s just getting started! And any trailer that combines both Wu-Tang Clan and car door being wrapped around a guy like a blanket, is a winner in my book!

Luke Cage also stars Mahershala Ali as the villainous Cottonmouth (seen in the trailer above), Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and sees Rosario Dawson reprising her Daredevil and Jessica Jones role as “The Night Nurse” Claire Temple. Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious, Southland) will act as showrunner for Luke Cage which will debut its 13-episode first season Netflix on September 30. And as a bonus, here’s a nice Comic-Con poster for the show as well.

Next up, the one I’ve really been looking forward to for way too long already: Iron Fist! It’s very much a teaser in every sense of the word, so temper your expectations accordingly, but for a longtime fan like me, it’s still damn cool.

Marvel’s Iron Fist follows Danny Rand (Finn Jones), who returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

So we unfortunately don’t get to see the parts I was most intrigued to see how Marvel would pull off, namely any of the mystical pseduo-Asian aspects of K’un L’un or how Finn Jones’ Danny Rand becomes the Iron Fist by having to take on a dragon in a fist fight (that seems fair), but I’m guessing Marvel are keeping that back for a later date. At least we do know that Iron Fist is the perfect man for a bit of destructive home renovation.

Iron Fist also stars Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, and has been confirmed to be debuting early 2017. And here’s the teaser poster to prove it.

Also arriving in 2017 will be the mini-series that all Marvel’s Netflix shows have been building towards: The Defenders. And thanks to a teaser trailer, we know have a bit more of a clue as to the identity of the threat worthy of pulling together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist – not to mention, probably with an assist from the Punisher! Check them out below!

Once you get over the cool Nirvana riff in that teaser, you’ll realize that that’s the voice of Scott Glenn’s Stick, last seen being all mysterious in Daredevil, talking about end-of-days prophecies involving the mystical ninja organization The Hand – notice the actual hand in the logo? – and something called the Black Sky who appeared to have been a strange child. Who Stick promptly killed with an arrow to the heart. He’s a cold one. Also, there appear to be more of these Black Skies, and they are obviously being used for no good.

Daredevil’s showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie will be in charge of things over on The Defenders as well, so it makes sense that it’s narrative will be coming from there. And speaking of The Man Without Fear, it was also announced that Marvel and Netflix’s original breakout success will be returning for a third season. The announcement was made on stage during the panel by Marvel’s Joe Quesada, but I much rather prefer this cool announcement vid later dropped on Twitter.

So what do you guys think of all the teasers thus far?

It does… they just need to keep the tone the same as DareDevil and not be campy like Arrow or Super Girl

the netflix series just arent comparable to arrow etc.
So much darker, theres no space for camp with all the badassery floating around.

I just dont want another jessica jones series.
that series never grew on me.

I only really know Iron Fist from the ultimate spider man cartoon (really good, worth a watch) and he seems pretty average.
but the Defenders has got me so hyped
