Way back in the early 2000s, Bungie created something special with Halo. Originally meant for Apple computers,  Bungie instead chose to flip off that egomaniac Steve Jobs and rather iPort their game over to Microsoft and their newborn Xbox division. And the rest as they say, was history. Totally bitchin’ history that is! Here’s a new trailer to celebrate the legacy of Halo, which is arriving soon in a remastered tetralogy package.

Over at the Rooster Teeth Expo in Austin, Texas, 343 Industries showed off the trailer above, which features Keith “Arbiter” David narrating the action on screen. Prepare for zero gameplay by the way, and plenty of that time-trusted foreshadowing and hints at stuff to come. I’m clearly speculating of course, but a part of me reckons that whatever 343 Industries has in store for Halo: Guardians, will most likely involve guns and enough ammo to kickstart a coup.

But seriously, I’m kinda thrilled for the four-pack. You’ve got a great origin story in the first Halo game, which recently received the anniversary upgrade, while Halo 2 is still one of the best multiplayer experiences ever made. Hell, the online side of that game ran for years and years.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is out on Xbox One on November 11. Just in time for a Christmas bonus splurge that will see you arbitrate your bank account to buy an Xbox One while little Timmy goes through another festive season with that hooping cough but screw him because he sucks at Halo and is such a newb and holy hell did I trail off there for a bit.

  1. What is a “hooping cough” precious? The cough you make when your friend doesn’t make his shot in an NBA game?

You’ll need DirectX 13 to play it and it only works on Windows9.

        What is Direct X 13?

Johan, how will I believe what you say in the future? There is only DirectX 12

agreed, i think the ‘kiddies’ who loved Halo 2 (supposedly the most beloved one) back in the day, are probably all in their 30’s now. So expect an older crowd in teh Haloez.

Halo 1 – Xbox system seller. I was like, that’s a good game.
Halo 2 – Xbox system seller. I was like, nice graphics.
Halo 3 – Xbox 360 system seller. I was like, they fine tuned everything.
Halo reach – system seller, idk. I was like damn, Xbox 360 is old.
Halo 4 – not a system seller. I was like, not a Bungie game.

So, Microsoft using Halo 1, 2, 3 to try and sell their Xbox One console, instead of having a new Halo Bungie game ready or try and see if the new Halo studio will be a system seller. Halo 1, 2 and 3. If that turns out to be a Xbox One system seller then something is wrong. 3 games worth $15 being sold at $60.

anyway. Bungie is kinda known for being an Xbox system seller. So with Sony promoting the hell out of Destiny, which is a Bungie game, with that Halo feel, Halo look, Halo music. I think Sony is playing a smart game and I hope it pays off for them and for Bungie and fuck Activision (just had to put that in there)

Sony is being smart with their focus on the gamers. Microsoft doesn’t know what to focus on, DRM, kinect, tv, games, but their focus will never be on the gamer.

    And Don’t Support DRM.

I never understood the fascination with this series. It seemed as generic a shooter as you could get. I do however want to experience it and will, at some point, try the Master Chief Collection. But this is not a reason to buy an Xbox One.
