These Star Wars Battlefront PC requirements are fully armed and operational

Han-Shot-First

I’ve got two expectations for DICE’s upcoming Star Wars Battlefront game: Amazing visuals, and an Imperial line of clothing that declares all Rebels to be sister-kissing scum. So far, at least one of those expectations are being met, even it may have resulted in Luke Skywalker attacking the battlefield with a bad case of the trots.

Still, Star Wars Battlefront does look real pretty, from the footage we’ve seen so far of battles on Hoth and the forest moon of Endor which has helped my Chewbacca defense on several occasions. All that visual high fidelity is going to come at a price however. Here’s the recommended specs, and an obligatory line about your PC being possibly too short to be a Stormtrooper machine:

Minimum PC System Requirements

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or later
  • Processor (Intel): Intel i3 6300T or equivalent
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
  • Graphics card (ATI): ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

Recommended PC System Requirements

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
  • Processor (Intel): Intel i5 6600 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB
  • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

According to my vaunted knowledge of PC gaming hardware, yes a timeshare in Knysna does sound like a fantastic idea and I can’t wait to join the Jehova’s Witnesses. According to Geoff, who is usually the smartest person in my room when he hovers over me, those minimum specs aren’t too bad.

The recommended specs on de uver hand Darryn, are rather high. If you’ve got a PC that is capable of running the new crop of virtual reality hardware that is on the way, you’re sorted. Otherwise, your rig is going to burn worse than Porkins did during his Death Star run.

So, can your PC handle Battlefront?

You forgot to mention the DRM. Battlefront will need to be linked / register / give all the value of the product over to Origin / EA.

    Don’t Support DRM.

At you are not forced to support Ryanza like how PC gamers are forced to use DRM.

I love how the GFX Card has to be a 4GB or 4-1GB card… Are they really utilising the cards that well or am I being amazingly cynical?

3.5+0.5 actually. But it performs better than most 4gb rivals, so you can’t complain really.

I can’t… I am still amazed at how this is suddenly the recommended specs, usually it’d be a GTX X60 or Ti model…anyway…

Some games strangely don’t say they need the top-of-the-range cards. BUT, and it’s a big one (even in caps, look!), if optimisation isn’t good, a top-of-the-range will run like shit anyway. And the proof is always in the pudding.

Yep, that is true… I’ve seen a few games do that to the top of the range cards, even with two generations later worth of hardware…

A GTX 970 should NOT be on the recommended list of a game. That says theyre going extremely over board. The witcher 3’s recommended is a gtx 770. And that’s reasonable. But a 970?! No way
