Witcher3

…if you speedrun it. Yes, the game is sprawling epic, featuring over 200 hours of content if you’re the sort who loves to do absolutely everything. If, however, you’re the kind of player who just wants to rush through the main story, without stopping to smell the roses and kill a few wayside bandits, then you can complete the game in just over 2 dozen hours. Which is still a heck of a lot of game.

That’s according to Gamereactor Germany, who were told that even the fastest of the internal testers took 25 hours to complete the game’s story. That included taking the fastest routes, and licking through all of the dialogue, so I think it’s safe to say that if you’re a fan of The Witcher or its universe, you’ll more than likely get your money’s worth.

It was recently revealed that there’s be even more to the game with the post-release addition of two paid-for DLC packs on top of the 16 bits of superfluous DLC CD Projekt RED has already promised.

The two new DLC, which seems to be more like the expansion packs of old. Together, they offer 30 hours of new content across two campaigns.

“We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back,” Said CD Projekt RED’s Marcin Iwinski. “We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for money.”

Remember, the game will be available through GOG.com without DRM. Don’t support DRM. The Witcher 3 is coming. (Am I doing this right?)

25 hour speed run, or 200+ hours if you’re a completionist. Now that’s value for money.

Unless if you have to buy a new PC to play it… like me.

I see value for money in buying a console and just enjoying the game like that. I am not interested in “great graphics, tweak this, tweak that, 4k res, that sort of thing” I want to play the game.

How much does a good gaming computer cost, that is capable of killing a consoles graphics? R12k? R15K? Remember, it is not just good enough to say the computer has a slightly better graphics card, so it will be better. It is more complicated than that on a pc. TSR programs, OS activities, RAM speed, Bus speed, all that stuff. And please, not arguments of cheaper PC’s from dealers, cause most people cannot do that.

Agreed, I’d much rather get a PS4/Xbone than upgrade my PC to play this game… Hell I have an original copy of The Witcher 2 (for PC) that I’ve never really played because I got the game for Xbox 360 and had no frame rate drops.

I’m just happy if I can play a game, doesn’t matter if it’s on minimum settings.

Yip, so I play Civ V and beyond Earth, SC2 and stuff on a 4 year old high end laptop, that is not coping with more modern games. So play in low settings and enjoy.

Nividia Program gave a great error message for a game the other day “Your machine does not meet the minimum requirements for this game”, so my 100 hours into Beyond Earth were all a dream, then?

Twice, yes. For me, not more than that, realistically.. Also, most endings should be a variation on a theme, as is typical in even the best of these large scale, epic story, choose your own adventure, RPG’s.

Triss has an emotional base for me and and I am sure many other players because of Witcher 1 and 2. So she lives. Unless her darker side is truly darker, which they have shown hints of in already Witcher 1, during the scene that set the stage for the Wild Hunt.

        • Greylingad

          April 10, 2015 at 10:05

Ok, so with 36 endings and taking the first playthrough at 200hrs, doing a speedrun on every consecutive playthrough after that will amount to a total time of 1075 hours of playing the game… 44 days of straight gameplay, more realistically 358 days of gameplay at 8 hours a day, so if it was your full time day job to play 8 hours a day and you speedrun the game 35 times after the first one, you’ll be playing for close to a year and a half…
