Rumor: Xbox One reaching delayed regions Q3 2014 – SA 2015?

Xbox delay

Remember when Microsoft was also going to launch the Xbox One in countries such as Russia, Scandinavia and the Benelux area? Well, it appears that they may be waiting even longer for the console – but what does that mean for us?

Gamereactor were the ones who first learned that there would be a delay, before it became official. Now they’re reporting that those countries could be in for a longer wait. Most people imaged that the console would ship to them in Q1 2014. If it’s delayed until Q2, it would be a bad time to launch in the Nordic countries, considering the severity of their winters. So, if Microsoft is struggling to localize the Xbox One for Sweden, Norway and Finland, it makes sense that we might see a delay like this.

That said, if these countries are delayed until Q3 2014, what does this mean for the other delayed countries, let alone the rest of the world? Is it simply a matter of localization, or is Microsoft struggling to manufacture the Xbox Ones? The longer people are forced to wait for local launches, the more likely they are to simply buy the other next generation console – PS4 managed a more universal launch, what is the holdup on Xbox One?

Here in South Africa, we have yet to receive any word on a release date. Rumors were circulating that it might be March, July or October of next year. Well, that’s not too helpful considering it’s all pure speculation. However, adding to that speculation, if the originally announced countries are only going to get consoles in Q3 2014, it’s hard to imagine us getting them any sooner.

Plenty of people are importing their consoles, looking to get their hands on the Xbox One. Will this affect demand when Xbox One eventually lands on our shores? Will the delay just give us all time to save up for the console’s arrival?

I’m sure. I’m hoping that Microsoft drops the price by mid year, and then another price drop towards November (in time for Black Friday 2014) (Fuck if Pachter can make predictions then why can’t I?). Which means when we get it, late 2014 to mid 2015 (the latest), the price should be pretty decent.

Also, by then the cloud would have been fully realised, and I’ll be able to play Dead Rising and Quantum Break like the end of level boss that I am (packet of Dorritos in my lap, while a mountain dew fizzes in a cup)

Actually another Hollywood myth, due to atmospheric interference the best ground resolution is about 80cm x 80xm, Real world conditions it is probably around 1m x 1m. Good enough to track cars and look at buildings but not good enough to track people. Also a satellite in low orbit will only have LOS of a target for a few minutes and it is expensive because they need to alter orbit which uses limited propulsion.

To spy on people they probably use UAVs

          • oVg

            December 11, 2013 at 09:44

I am not worried about spying. If I was I would not have a Cell Phone.
But I do not want Extroverted gaming full stop. They can keep the MANDATORY camera.

I’ve actually stopped watching the Guild because of all the hoops you have to run through to watch it.. and no… I’m not going to use Bing to access it. Screw Bing! Who uses Bing? Don’t be too hard on them, they’re probably trying to dump as many consoles on US soil to maintain their dominance there. It’s not the right strategy, but I can understand it. Also, a delayed release for us is a good thing, because it means a more robust OS (firmware upgrades) and a better library when it comes to our shores.
