Pro Evolution Soccer 15 is coming soon, and like they did with the last one, Konami is promising that this year’s one will be the best. For a starter, this one’s being co-developed by a UK studio, so it won’t have that odd, pervasive Japaneseness about it. We’ve got a bunch more news on the game, as well as a bit of off-screen footage of the game in action.

Here’s the new information extolling the virtues of the game’s new systems, as excised from a press release because I can’t even pretend to be arsed about football.

  • Excitement Of Goals –A new shooting system allows a variety of unrestricted shooting styles with precise control over the direction and power of all strikes. Countering enhanced attacking options, goal keepers intuitively close angles and are capable of an incredible number of ways to react to any situation, including altering centre of gravity.
  •  Final Pass – Likewise, passing options available to players when delivering a final pass have been expanded, allowing for little knock-ons or searing low passes that use new physics routines to ensure the ball behaves realistically across every situation, providing unique and differing outcomes decided by user actions.
  • 1 on 1 – The final key element that has been totally reworked centres around the degree of close control on offer. Positioning is vital, but the ability to dribble into space and beat your marker is now hugely improved and opens up PES 2015 as the definitive on-field experience.

These central features are then supported by additional elements to create the most entertaining and breath-taking match-day experience imaginable:

  • Incredible Response Times: Lightning fast controls allow users to instinctively react to every movement when the ball is in play.
  • Full Pitch AI: The game engine now features AI that is constantly adjusted covering everything that develops on the pitch, resulting in players making runs, finding space and marking opponents even when off the screen.
  • Closest Control: Take on defenders using each player’s bespoke dribbling skills, as opposed to relying on ‘trick’ moves. New skills include jinking runs, responsive sprints and incorporating a much wider range of pace – from walking to sprinting.
  • Case for Defence: Users have complete control over when to close down, tackle, or hold up play. Successful defending is based entirely on the decisions the user makes.

Here’s that sneaky off-screen footage for your eyeballs. Who uses a phone camera with vertical orientation?

It’s also been confirmed that the game will be running in glorious 1080p and 60fps..on the PS4. Konami’s unwilling as yet to commit to the same on the Xbox One.

“We’re locked at 60 frames, 1080p already, and this is the first build,” European brand manager Adam Bhatti told Videogamer.com

As for the Xbox One version, Konami’s “still at a stage where we can’t give a definite yes”.

“When you consider that question comes from us having just PS4 consoles available for gameplay on the floor, it’s just purely for the development reasons,” senior creative producer Naoya Hatsum said.

“At the current development stage we’re in – which is just under 70 per cent complete – we still have a lot of work on game balance and some of the gameplay elements are just much more visible on what we want to deliver… We thought that would be able to be conveyed best through a PS4 at this stage, but we are definitely working on the Xbox One [and] all other platforms in parallel to the PS4 edition.”

PES 15 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September.

Seriously, the fact that Shaolin Soccer is not a game, is the greatest travesty ever…

That is actually pretty impressive that they can get it to run at 60fps and 1080p. It’s just a shame that they are so far behind Fifa….. PES fans are going to kill me again….
