The Tomb Raider franchise saw a very successful reboot last year in an origin story where Camilla Luddington breathed new life into the heroine. What flew in under the radar several years before though (in 2010), was Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light – a  downloadable gem of an arcade game that was packed with action, puzzles, and some fantastic co-op. The sequel, Temple of Osiris, will be available for download in less than a month.

If you haven’t played Guardian of Light, you can grab it for a couple of dollars on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and even mobile platforms like iOS. I would highly recommend it!

If you’ve already played it, here’s what you can look forward to in the sequel (via the Tomb Raider Blog)

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris rekindles the sense of fun fueled co-op adventure. Pushing boundaries even further, the title offers one to four-player co-op, new weapons, upgrades, and power ups, and a larger world ripe with exploration, puzzles, traversal, and arcade inspired combat. It represents our opportunity to develop a game that places multiplayer fun with your friends at the heart of a AAA next generation digital game.

Guardian of Light only had two-player co-op, which sadly, I never got to experience. I played solo, but the thought of having a friend jump in to help out with puzzles and enemies was exciting. Temple of Osiris will double that with four-player co-op! I foresee many friendships ending over who gets to play as Lara.

In terms of balance, you’d think this sort of raise in player cap would break the game experience somewhat. This is not the case. The developers are making sure that the game scales accordingly, meaning it’s just as challenging alone as it is with friends. Check out this developer diary which looks at some of the puzzles players can expect.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will be available from December the 9th on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Thankfully, there are no silly timed exclusives in place. Are you excited for it? I know I am!

That’s in the pipeline – maybe even for a late 2015 release. But it’s Xbone exclusive… Timed exclusive… But means it won’t be gracing any other platform for, what I assume, will be a good few months / maybe a year or so.

Oh yeah! Now I remember my blinding rage that I psychologically blocked out… xD

Well there goes the money I was going to give them. Their loss.

I rather enjoyed the Reboot of the franchise, this isn’t what I want as Tomb Raider game to be honest

Oh don’t get me wrong – a Tomb Raider game, it ain’t. It’s a top-down action / puzzle game, using a well-known license to increase sales. But it’s still fun – worth a shot if the price is right (I actually didn’t buy Guardians of Light – got it for free on 360… But really enjoyed it).
