Here’s what’s coming in the latest Witcher 3 patch

The Witcher 3 is such a huge, expansive game that it’s likely that many of you are still playing it, months later. If not still busy, chances are many of you will be replaying the game – especially once that free DLC to enable New Game Plus is out. You’ll be happy to know that by the time that DLc comes along, the game will look and run better.

But wait! That’s not all! Not only will the game be getting a range of performance tweaks, it’ll also fix some of the game’s wayward armour requirements introduced in patch 1.07.

Says CD Projekt RED:

“In patch 1.07, the level requirements for certain items were scaled up, leaving some players stuck with only unusable gear. With patch 1.08, we are introducing the Wolven Hour potion. This potion will be available in everyone’s inventory once they install the patch. It will reduce level requirements on all gear for a period of one hour.

“This will give players time to level up or find alternative equipment using the gear that was available to them in patch 1.05 but became unusable after patch 1.07. After one hour, the potion’s effects will cease and the requirements for all gear will revert to their original, pre-potion values.”

While no release date has been given, you can expect it “soon.” A number of weird quest bugs have been fixed – even though each new patch seems to introduce many more bugs and glitches. Here are the full patch notes:

PERFORMANCE: Overall improvements to performance, including some issues that may have been caused by 1.07.

GAMEPLAY

  • Fixes a rare issue where items would disappear from the stash.
  • Fixes a very rare issue which would cause Geralt to get stuck when trying to run.
  • The interaction pop-up will no longer appear on lootable objects that are empty.
  • Fixes an occasional glitch in one of the dwarf combat animations.
  • Heads chopped off during finishers will no longer disappear.“Players can perform a roll just before landing to significantly reduce the damage caused by falling.
  • We’ve added a tutorial pop-up window explaining this to make it clearer.”
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to compare their items with ones sold by merchants.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Players will now be able to complete the Card Collector achievement.
  • Achievements are now working properly again and will be unlocked if players meet their requirements after installing this patch (PC version).

GRAPHICS

  • Fixes an issue where interiors would sometimes not display properly on the minimap.
  • Fixes an issue where certain world elements would sometimes be missing and noticeable visual glitches would be present while in Novigrad.

QUESTS

  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to finish the “It Takes Three to Tango” quest, even though they had obtained wine at the Kingfisher.
  • Fixes an issue where Geralt would sometimes die after traveling to Velen in the quest “Something Ends, Something Begins.”
  • The entrance to the area where the Sunstone is obtained will no longer be blocked off if the player exits it prematurely during “The Sunstone” quest.
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to complete the “Get Junior” quest on certain occasions.
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to finish the “Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear” quest due to a closed gate.
  • Fixes an issue where some players were unable to investigate rooms during the “Family Matters” quest, effectively blocking their progression.
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to finish the “Hey, You Wanna Look at my Stuff?” quest.
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to talk to Roche during the “An Eye for an Eye” quest.
  • Fixes an issue where Roche would stay at his camp instead of going to the Oxenfurt Bridge in the “Get Junior” quest.
  • Fixes an issue where, under certain circumstances, Yennefer would not appear in Oxenfurt during the “The Great Escape” quest.
  • Drowners will have a harder time killing Nidas during the “Black Pearl” quest.
  • Fixes an issue which led to an infinite loading screen during the “To Bait a Forktail…” quest under certain circumstances.
  • Fixes a rare issue where the basement was locked during the “King’s Gambit” quest.
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to free the merchant during the Person in Distress event in the Claywich area.
  • The trolls at the Circle of Elements will no longer attack Geralt if he opts for a peaceful resolution.
  • Fixes an issue where players were unable to talk to Roche during the “Brothers in Arms” quest.
  • Fixes an issue where Zoltan’s card was unobtainable.

GENERAL: Preparatory features paving the way for the introduction of New Game + in the future.

Doubt it’ll be anywhere near as big as the previous patch, that added a whole bunch of new stuff. Ones before it were around the 100mb range.

CD Projekt RED is engraving a name in history as one of the greatest developers of all time: FIXING bugs (take note EA, Ubisoft) and giving away free DLC. *****

I played the witcher 3 from start to finish without installing any patches, well expect for the day 1 “drm” patch. I had no problems with the game, well excpet the triss quest and one time heads popping off, i would say you get a pretty solid complete game which took me over 2 months to finish.

The game is good. let me rephase that. the game is fucking good. if only the game was developed for pc first and consoles later, the game would have been perfect, generation defining. I would say that is the only thing wrong with the game.

you can tell the witcher 3 is for gamers by gamers, well maybe not for pc gamers, remap keys patch and camera and movement patch and console graphics. other than that for the gamers.

Don’t support drm. Cyberpunk 2077 is coming. The witcher 3 with its drm patches and drm dlc, fuck that.

To be fair the patches they did so far has been helpful patches. But the game can be played and enjoyed without installing any of them, except day 1 patch. The game is complete, and the patches weren’t needed to fix it, rather just tweak it here and there. I am happy with how they have done their patches…

No problem with the Vanilla version. I played V1.04 and uninstalled it to see the difference. The original version had better draw distance and looked more like the PC version. But the frame rate was hammered in the bog and city.

Also, blood stains would appear all over Gerald when hit, same in the cut scene when you meet Yen after killing the men in the pub. Your clothes would be covered in blood. No longer there after the patches.

The latest patches twiddled the textures down, gave it less draw distance so there are now more pop ins and the lighting seems more orange, all in the name of raising the frame rate.

Its a double edged sword. As much as I love CD P for optimizing their game I think they have overdone it. An artist leaves his painting once complete or it gets ruined.

It needed another 6 months in the cooker but they already pushed it from Feb 27th.

I FCUKING LOVE THE GAME. 300HOURS+

game was pretty enough even with the downgrades, although you’re right, it could have been better and deserved to be better.
graphics didnt really bother me though, my issue was character based. i thought that overall, the voice acting and dialogue / script was pretty lackluster and improving them was pretty easy compared to upgrading the graphics again. there are solutions that dont involve messing with the code.

story was pretty predictable though, no real plot twists or surprises. and they completely brushed over the whole emhyr thing “ooooh, emhyr so scary, lets completely ignore him and the entire nilfgarding nation when we get to the end”

I am waiting for ng+ but tried witcher 2 on pc and actually like it more. W2 not being open world makes it better i think….more detailed, tighter. But keeps crashing randomly. still on the fence with pc masterrace vs ps4.

lol on the fence. The PC version ( as always) blows the console version out of the park. Whats to be on the fence about.

Better visuals not the only factor… My couch is soo much more comfortable than my office… and 50″ tv vs 27″ …. also games on pc seem to crash on me quite often. That’s all just personal experience. PC definitely better, but not always my preferred choice.

This is a out of date argument. There is nothing stopping you from using a controller with your PC and hooking it up to a TV. I do it all the time.

I did this a couple of times, don’t like moving my pc back and forth, needs to stay where it is. But I don’t need to choose witch I prefer, I decide on a game to game basis. Got both. Just love my PS4 a bit more, just wish they made them a bit more powerful. I just find pc’s too much hassle most of the time.

That’s a…interesting opinion. Granted if your PC just HAS to be in another room then I can see where you’re coming from…my gaming PC is in my living room. A 20 foot HDMI cable to TV and a controller and I’m g2g. My PS4 literally collects dust.

My PC is used in a recording studio I have at home, this is why it HAS to stay there… but I’m slowly moving over to the masterrace side. Getting a new graphics card… my gtx650 was bottlenecking an otherwise very good pc.
