How to easily max out your stats in Fallout 4

Fallout-4-Special

I’ve only just jumped into Fallout 4, and much like war itself, I’ve learnt that tangling with a Death-Claw when you’re only level 2 is an act of insanity with results that’ll never change. And that’s what makes Fallout 4 so special. Or S.P.E.C.I.A.L to be exact. It’s all about growing your character as you adventure through the wasteland, upping your stats and skills along the way.

And not running around Boston wearing only your underwear and a football helmet scavenged off of a super mutant. Earning enough experience can be difficult however, especially when you have a pack of Ghouls looking to tear you apart. Of course, there is an easier way, to get that extra edge in Fallout 4.

Although mind you, if you want to finish Fallout 4 in a manner that is about as challenging as getting Matty to walk into a ceiling fan, that’s up to you. Item duplication is easy enough in Fallout 4, thanks to trusty companion Dogmeat. But here’s how the stat increase works:

  • Go back to your home-town
  • Look under the chest of drawers to find an issue of You’re Special, in Shaun’s room
  • Take the stat increase, then drop the magazine
  • Command Dogmeat to retrieve the magazine
  • Just before Dogmeat picks up the magazine, grab it yourself
  • Take the duplicate magazine from Dogmeat
  • Drop both magazines, pick them both up and you’ll get another stat trigger

Easy as pie. Well not quite, as you need some skilled timing to beat Dogmeat to the punch on this one. Anyway, I’ve tested it on my Xbox One copy of Fallout 4, which I haven’t patched yet. The cheat works hundreds, during the times that Dogmeat wasn’t stuck halfway through the floor, but I’m not taking those extra stat boosts. It has the potential to completely break the immersion of Fallout 4, as dying and learning from your mistakes is part of the package.

Still, it’s up to you, if you need that edge. Oh for Grodd’s sake, Dogmeat is now somehow caught in the damn wall.

I’m happy to say that I’ve leveled up by playing, not cheating. I think I’ve also picked the right perk path so far. There really is no wrong path, just some paths that will make game play much easier early on. Have fun, and, like the author of this article says, immerse yourself in the game, instead of trying to take shortcuts that will leave you feeling “dirty” and totally lacking in self respect.

10 stars in Intelligence helped earn crazy amounts of XP in the early game. I got to level 5 in 2hours.

There’s a vid on youtube where the guy puts idiot savant and intel on the test to who gives the better xp amount.
If i remember correctly if your intel 1 and have idiot savant the xp multiplier and this is when it does activate is 152%. Intel 10 gives you a xp boost of 140% i believe.

Ya , I saw that 🙁 I also have 10 for luck. Stacking critical hits is cool.

Don’t like things like this. I prefer just leveling up as it should be.
Level 41 now and haven’t found it much of a hassle to gain XP at all.

I will be honest, I started a game the past weekend for the 1st time and now restarted one last night. It’s going much better now that I know what I’m actually doing.

Haha. I’m loving it. Sure, it’s no Witcher 3, but it’s Fallout so it’s good. 🙂
Mechanics are pretty much just like Fallout NV, only a bit empty without the Karma effects and special perks. I miss those.

Totally agree. There’s nothing better than getting those extra 6 XP points that take you to the next level. I like having a sense of accomplishment, thanks, not a quick cheat to get what I want,

Problem I have is I’m running out of things to shoot. My next targets for xp seem to be the people in Diamond City.

I noticed that once I got to level 30 everything re-spawned. Not sure if it works by level or in game days.

Also it does not really matter as all enemies rubber band with your level. I did notice that I was doing crazy damage at one point but then realised that the Wonderer perk works with Dog Meat as dog meat does not register as a companion.

This is why we can’t have nice things…

I was all too happy running away from just about anything bigger than a roach. Now that I know there is a way to cheat…ag, thanks for that…

Also, Codsworth is now stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I’ve stuck with Dogmeat all the way through so far. Gave him some nice armour and goggles for the strong sunlight 😉

Nice thing about dogmeat is that he doesn’t count as a companion so if you take the lone ranger perk you still get those benefits plus the companion.

I LOVE DOG MEAT, I would say that they put as much effort into the the dog as MGSV did with D-Dog.

It was at first but its actually rather casual. You do need to go onto youtube to learn things like linking settlements and what the benefits are and the like.

But it all comes down to shooting and and looting.

Level 31. Unlocked the teleport even if overweight perk. All Workstations on my 15 out of the 30 settlements have all been moved to Sanctuary. All special weapons separated and 30hours worth of weapon and armour collections all sold off for ammo.

    READY TO ROCK N ROLL.

P.S. Dont bother buying the house in Diamond city. Its just for show. You cant build anything other than furniture.
