Rumour: Xbox to revive Heroes TV series?

Tim Kring’s X-men wannabe TV series Heroes started out with such promise. The first season hinted at something incredible, but the writer’s strike in the middle of season 2 just resulted in the whole thing becoming a convoluted mess. Heroes lasted for four seasons, which was three too many – but it might be coming back, exclusively to Xbox.

That’s according to TVLine, who says that MSN is interested in reviving the series with a new cast of heroes (and cameos from the original cast) – and showing it exclusively on XBox. this ties in to previous reports that Microsoft wants its next system to be a set-top device filled with original programming – much like Netflix has done with the superb House of Cards.

I don’t know I feel about this. I loved the show’s premise, and the promises it made – but ended up feeling bitterly disappointed. Mostly because I sat through four seasons of that rubbish, and not once did I see anyone shaving a cheerleader.

Well we not getting Netflix anytime soon so I doubt we’ll get XBLTV.

      True, it was ,,,,uhhhh,, ok.

Season 3… wasn’t as dire as Season 4, but it was a far cry from Season 1. The biggest problem with Heroes was that the writers thought they were writing for Lost, and THUS didn’t need to have coherent storylines. It really felt like they were writing it by “chucking some shit against a wall, in the mistaken belief that the geeks will eat it up… cos ermaghad… superheroes”.

Yet another case of the suits thinking that they have geek and geek culture figured out, and yet, as young Ygritte told John Snow, “You know nothing John Snow”.

Man, I’m still peeved at how Season 4 ended… a whole season’s build-up to what should have been one of the most amazing battles ever, and it ends with a little whimper and a tiny dust cloud…

And Claire… surviving… ugh! I love the actress, but I still think they should have killed her character off as early as the second season. And gimping Peter was one of the worst ideas ever.

No show will ever come close to watching season 1 of Heroes – After a long night out , crashing at a mates and watching episodes 1 – 19. episode 20 was incredible (if memory serves me)
I won’t mention season 4 as I could barely get back into it…….circus people ? Really??

On a slightly separate note , What did you think of “Alphas” ??

It started off a bit slow, found its legs towards the middle part, and then lost the plot completely in the second season. :/

Something not quite related, but still sci fi: I was pleasantly surprised by the pilot for Defiance. Actually enjoyed it. I just hope SyFy doesn’t cancel it after 10 episodes… :/

Agree about Heroes season 1 though. I have it on DVD, and watch it whenever the urge hits me. In my mind, season 2 till 4 never happened. Kind of like Lost. For me it ended after Season 3.

The rest will be scrubbed by a healthy case of self-imposed denial 😛
