Three Xbox Live Arcade hits, Limbo, ‘Splosion Man and Trials, are getting bundled into one retail release. A Japanese and a US version of the retail triple pack have been confirmed by Twisted Pixel CEO and Amazon.com respectively.

Originally download-only titles, a retail release of these highly successful XBLA games just might be what many people have wanted, especially those without the loads of extra cap to blow on downloading games. Could this be the start of a new drive by Microsoft to put out physical copies of successful Xbox Live Arcade Games?

The notion is an appealing one, especially when you consider that many of the stellar XBLA games clock in at way over a gig in size. If cap limit isn’t the issue, then line speed might be the reason why some haven’t bothered with downloadable games to begin with.

The bundle will sell for $29.99, which makes it cheaper than if you downloaded the three games separately. Included with the package will be 160 MS Points and a 48-hour Xbox Live Gold trial.

Retail releases of the better XBLA titles will allow more people to experience some phenomenal games that they ordinarily might never get to see. At the moment, the retail release has only been confirmed for Japan and the US, but should a European release be announced, then you can bet we’ll get it in South Africa as well.

There are many other XBLA games that could benefit from retail releases. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light springs to mind; a retail release of that with its DLC packs would go down a treat with some gamers.
