Xbox One’s best game is cheaper now, and has more DLC

Sunset Overdrive was in many ways the biggest surprise for me last year. I had drooled over the Xbox One exclusive since its announcement, but slowly began worrying about its longevity in the months leading to launch. Those worries were put to rest after actually playing it, and I still maintain it’s the best game you can pick up for Microsoft’s console. And if you haven’t yet, you can save a few bucks now.

Sunset Overdrive’s retail price has been permanently slashed, ringing in at a more attractive, still not so low R575. It’s less than what you were expected to fork out before, and not at all bad considering our absolutely shocking exchange rate at the moment. It’s now more than low enough for the amount of fun that Sunset Overdrive brings to the party, so don’t hesitate if you have in the past.

And if you’ve already turned Sunset City on its head, you’ll be glad to know that some more content (and sadly the last as well) launched during April Fools yesterday. The last bit of story DLC, Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines is now available for purchase and open to everyone who bagged the Season Pass for the game – which includes the previously released Mystery of Mooil Rig DLC too.

The new bit of story goodness revolves around shutting down a factory that is pumping out those deviously nasty FizzCo robots, which easily ranked as the most annoying enemy in the game. You’ll have access to new weapons, amps, traps and clothing items for your troubles. The real reason you should be excited though is for the chance to race around in a new electrified energy ball – which basically fulfils any hamster fantasies you may or may not have ever had.

The DLC is also filled to the brim with future sci-fi film and pop culture references, some of which you’ll immediately recognise in the launch trailer below. Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines is out now for $9.99.

I see Insomniac are already regretting putting this thing out exclusively on X1. PC version incoming.

Have to say the game really didn’t interest me. I wanted the protag to die. Flipping annoying!

I think you got confused with Ori and the Blind Forest, which everyone knows is the best Xbox One game to date.

Thought tis game was great. It never took itself to seriously made me laugh and had great gameplay. I have a weird suspension that all the hate is from PlayStation and PC biased gamers. Just buy all systems and have fun.
