How many people played the Battlefield: Hardline beta?

Battlefield: Extreme Cops and Robbers Edition Hardline is currently in open beta – and depending on who you talk to, it’s either awesome, or a lame duck version of Battlefield with all of the fun removed. That beta’s hit a rather important milestone, surpassing even the great big Destiny for the number of active participants.

EA’s announced that over 6 million people logged in to the open beta, smashing the records Destiny set. Activision and Bungie’s potentially amazing, practically dull grind-fest clocked in with over 4.6 million participants. Battlefield: Hardline’s superior beta performance shouldn’t be too surprising; Hardline has that fan-favourite, established Battlefield brand name behind it, along with a PC version – which helps drive the numbers up.

“There’s been a ton of action through the weekend on the Battlefield Hardline beta and we’re thrilled that now more than six million of you have gotten your hands on the game,” says Visceral’s Steve Papoutsis. “We appreciate the response and feedback we have gotten from you in the forums, on social media and while playing with you online.

Now, I know what you’re asking yourself. We’re just five weeks away from the launch of Battlefield Hardline, how could we possibly be acting on that feedback? Well, I can assure you we are. In fact, we’ve already been prioritizing changes for things fans are talking about.”

So it’s been a rather successful beta, with Visceral Games ready to make changes based on your feedback. I hope that feedback helps shape a better game, because from what I’ve read and heard, 6 million Hardline beta players just means that 5.5 million of them won’t be buying the game. Did you play the beta? What are your thoughts?

It did not take that long to download, but almost a day to install on my PS4.

I actually tried it on both my XB1 and PS4. PS4 ran and looked better. But all my friends that would play it are on Xbawx. Also, I have no urge to buy the game.

I’ve had my PS4 for two months and already it’s running outta space.
Been looking at swapping out the internal HDD, which I discovered is a rather lengthy process requiring some good ol’ DIY.

      If
      anyone’s interested there’s a step-by-step guide from Sony here:

Nice thanks. I delete games on a regular basis. But only if I haven’t played them in a month or so because whats the point? Though 500gb was a serious underestimation by them.

No probs. I want the option of being able to dip my toes in some nostalgia, deleting older games just breaks my hoarding heart 🙁

Don’t think it was an underestimate though, just a roundabout way to get more HDD sales.

I take comfort that I can skip to the library and gaze at all the titles I can download again if needed, but it would be awesome to never have to delete anything.

True, it’s too small a comfort for me though, already hardly have time to game. Re-downloading means sacrificing the time I could’ve spent playing the games I would have had to delete.

Hehe, I buy most games on disc and trade them in after I complete them for the next AAA title. So that’s why Ive yet to run out of space.

Well no. There’s Tomb Raider, GTAV, Destiny, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Sniper Elite 3 and others still installed. But I get where you are going with this.

Quite a few people have complained that it’s just a BF4 mod. There’s also the issue of the “downgraded” console resolutions.

But then I see a gif like this and it’s hard not to want the game:

Could’ve definitely used that in BF4. A refreshing laugh during a binge could probably save a few Asians from that “falling asleep” at desk problem o_O

I played it on PS4 this weekend and loved it. But that may be cause I gave BF4 a skip and now seriously crave some BF action.

I have to say that sometimes the whole cops vs robbers thing does not make sense. Why would cops want to take random cars next to the road and just keep driving them the whole time. And there is no feeling that as a cop you are going to arrest the baddy. Just shoot everyone in the face, but I guess that the game is based on American police.

if it was based on the South African police force… we would be spending half of each round fast asleep in the car, 1 quarter of the round taking bribes, and the rest of the round either trying to figure out which side the gun shoots from and/or locked up in the back of their own vehicle

I played it on the PS4(Have never played a COD or BF game before)! The matchmaking is brilliant, didn’t wait once to find a match and it never took more than a minute to get into a match!! That said, I just don’t understand the point of it all!! I love shooting down the sight of a gun, but it felt like I was being punished for trying to it in this game! Everyone hip fired some of the biggest, meanest guns I have seen?!?!? What is up with that?
Can’t say that it convinced me to buy it, if anything it just confirmed why I have never played BF or COD….

BF and CoD are 2 very different games that you can’t really compare except for they are FPS.

BF4 is great for longer matches and if you play in a group, you come up with some great tactics plus they have awesome vehicles. But in the end I got bored of BF4. Looking at Hardline, it’s more a mod of BF4 so it’s definitely a big no for me.

If you looking to get CoD: AW, do it if you want fast paced matches in multiplayer. As for the SP, I don’t know. Haven’t played campaign since MW3. So do it if you like PVP.

Campaign was cool, but tiny, don’t get COD:AW is you looking for a fulfilling campaign…

AW is stupid fast, the moves you can pull are pretty amazing.

Try COD. It’s a much quicker game, and you won’t spend 30 minutes running across a map.

Despite my utter distaste for the Battlefield franchise after the blunder that was Battlefield 4 i am really liking Hardline, not as a comparison to Battlefield 3/4 but as a game in its own right that runs on the Frostbite engine.

The gameplay is great, albeit a few beta bugs but as far as a beta goes this was great.

I may even buy this game, probably not right off the bat but ill get it eventually.

NOTE : I played the PC version

Cue 5.5 million “it should be a map pack for bf4” and “it’s a mod for BF4″… I disagree. It feels different, sounds different and plays different.

Will I pre-order? Never again will I pre-order a BF game. But I’ll definitely look into it once the price drops.

Don’t support premium, vanilla is coming.

I loved it. The guns have actual recoil, which is lacking in BF4. the way characters move, feels great to me. the game is more infantry based which is great. people died when you shoot them 🙂 cause jirre BF4 makes me go insane! shoot a whole clip aek into back of a dude, he turns, drops down to do a set of push-up, has a wank and then kills me with one bullet. while i am reloading my aek and magnum after nothing worked…
