You can now migrate your Xbox Live account

If you’re an Xbox gamer who’s moved countries, you know what a right pain in the arse your relocation could wreak on your Xbox Live account; you’re unable to use your credit card, because it’s tantamount to fraud, certain content can get locked off by geofencing and you’re no longer able to use the services available in the old country. Finally, FINALLY, Microsoft’s made an allowance for migrating.

Though it’s a manual process that can take up to 6 weeks to complete, it’s really about time that Microsoft’s caught on that people sometimes do move between countries. Hopefully with the introduction of Windows 8 and its built in “live” accounts, the process will become streamlined, easier to do and preferably, automated.

There are perhaps a few pitfalls to migrating, of course – none of which will be alien to South Africans who took the plunge and migrated their UK or US based accounts when the option was available.

Here’s a screeny, thanks to Wm Power User.
