A long time ago on a webpage not so far away I posted a story about the failure rate of the Xbox 360 being around 61%, that was over two years ago and since then we have seen many other numbers bandied around and now we have a new one.
One of Kotaku’s sister sites (The Consumerist) has posted up a GameInformer magazine scan of it’s survey results.. So to get that straight we are reporting on another websites sister website reporting on a scan of an article from a magazine that completed a survey… still with me?
Well according to the GameInformer survey the Xbox 360 has a failure rate of 54.2%, a whopping 7% lower than I first guessed and around 50% higher than any industry standard.
The PS3 and Wii had failure rates of 10.6% and 6.8% respectively.
However what’s more interesting is that even though the Xbox 360 had the highest failure rate and worst customer care only 3.8% of the respondents said that they wouldn’t buy another Xbox 360 if theirs failed.
I guess it goes to show that you should rather spend money on marketing instead of quality assurance after all.
