I love Wrestling games. When done right, they’re the perfect combination of fighting game and mass market appeal. I did, however, hate the hell out of WWE ‘12; THQ and Yukes focused so much on their new engine that they forgot to make a game that was actually fun to play. Have they made up for it with the “Attitude Era” focused WWE 13?

Featuring tons of stock footage and photographs from the era that defined modern wrasslin’ WWE ‘13 certainly seems to be better than its predecessor, iterative as it might be for an annual release. Here’s what the scores look like so far:

“I’ve always pointed to 2000’s WWF No Mercy as the best wrestling game I’ve ever played, but nostalgia is certainly a factor in that. After playing WWE ‘13, I’m hard pressed to think of a more enjoyable and complete wrestling game in history,” says GameInformer.

CanadianOnlineGamers was also quite positive, saying “Although not quite perfect, WWE ‘13 is probably the best in the franchise that I have played to date and I can’t wait to see what lies in store for future iterations.” They also noted that the AI won’t reverse every damned thing you do, one of the things that made last year’s game so ridiculously frustrating.

Calling the game “Great,” IGN says that “WWE ’13 might suffer from some camera, audio and gameplay quirks, but on the whole it’s a great wrestling experience.”

Here’s the game’s explosive launch trailer, that invites you to “Live the Revolution.” WWE ‘13 is available for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii this Friday, November 2. Any of you keen?
