What’s your favourite GTA game? I’m not the series’ biggest fan, but if I had to pick one, it’d probably be Vice City. something about the setting, and the cheesy 80’s music just resonates with me. For most though, if it’s not the newest GTA V, it’s likely GTA San Andreas. And it looks like it’s coming back.
A leaked set of achievements points to the game hitting the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is some sort of remastered way soon. The 100 points you can earn doing 33 different things references some of the very stuff that made San Andreas one of my least favourite GTA games; eating too much, getting fat and having to work it off in the gym. The game was recently given a mobile makeover and released on iOS and Android devices, but this would be the first time the game’s been re-released on new consoles.
The astute amongst you would know that the game’s been available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for quite a while already – as a classic PS2 version on the PSN, and a an Xbox Original on Xbox Live. However, adding a bit of credence to the rumour is the fact that both of those versions have mysteriously disappeared from their respective digital stores.
Beyond the stupid pseudo-RPG stuff, the urban setting and hip-hop focus just didn’t resonate much with me – so it’s a game I’ll certainly not rush to play again. Of course, this all means nothing to PC gamers. The original game still works on their platform of choice, with mods that make it look better than it ever has.
Still, would you want to play San Andreas again? I’ve had my fill of the region thanks to GTA V – and I think because of that game, the whole experience would feel a little…backwards.
What’s your favourite game in the GTA franchise – and which would you like to see resurrected?

If someone held a gun to my head, and told me to replay an old GTA game, I’d play Vice City.
Edit: Oooo, or GTA 2… loved that game.

GTA London is the first and only GTA game I remember playing (I’ve briefly played one of the newer ones but it didn’t make that much of an impression).

GTA London was the first game i played where i had to move and point with a mouse.
i didnt know how to move with the arrow keys on my left hand, while using my right hand to do the mouse.
it was an eye opening experience.

I enjoyed 3 the most. Wouldn’t play it again though, even if they did remaster it.

GTA 3 was a cool game and it had that cyberpunk feel to it.

Seriously though we need more Vice City

Between ice and fopr I am wondering if this just slipped through your departments grammar nazi’s hands before being allowed in or if perhaps Geoff and the team are perhaps high…. I think I am going to pretend its the latter for now 🙂

I’ve asked countless times for access to the back-end to sort out issues like that.
They are probably afraid I’ll put DOGE pictures everywhere

I picture the conversation going like this…
“Geoff, I want access to your back-end.”
“Um…. no.”

More like
“gimme access to fix your damn typos”
“sorry, allergic to DOGE”

Hmmm then perhaps us mere mortals just do not know the real meaning of fopr? Or this could be a Matrix spoof and we could just agree that there is no fopr?

There also releasing a patch on Steam, some managed to get the update before R* locked the beta, I’d grab the game on steam finally for the achievements and nostalgia of waiting till the weekend game to finally jam some San Andreas
Also those removed tracks from the mobile version seem to be gone as well, oddly some still say its still in the PC version, but yeah obviously those who purchased it already will probably keep it and newer will lose it, thank goodness for keeping my pc retail copy…somewhere here?

GTA2 and GTA3 were some of my most memorable experiences with the franchise. Yakuza vs the red necks vs those damn loonies. And all I’m trying to do is get away from the batsh1tcrazy SWAT team (and don’t get me started about jacking one of their vehicles).
