   March 23rd, 2009 clock image 12:45 pm

bigginJapan In the latest issues of Famitsu – Japan’s premier gaming magazine – they published their result on a survey they ran polling gamer’s satisfaction with each of the current consoles and handhelds.

There were five possible responses to each category: very satisfied, satisfied, indifferent, unsatisfied and very unsatisfied. Each was accordingly assigned a satisfaction score out of 5.

Which gaming platform most satisfied Japanese gamers?

The results may surprise you.

Yes, pick your jaws up off the floor – The Xbox 360 is the most satisfying console in Japan. Satisfied users praised Xbox Live’s network features and the varied library of foreign games – while those who don’t own a 360 afraid to get one over hardware issue concerns.

Of course, this poll was run by Famitsu – and thus represents core gamers, and isn’t indicative of general consumer sentiment. How could it be? They’ve polled all 370 Japanese Xbox owners.

Lol @ the 370 XboX owners.

But i refuse to believe that in Japan only 1.4% of XboXs are failing, or the people they selected were just a very luck bunch or lied. If my console died there’s no way i would rate it anything other than ‘Very Dissatisfied’

    @Lazy:

What do you make of this:

    http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/19/joystiq-survey-xbox-360-e74-errors-on-the-rise-since-nxe/

especially the comments made by ‘Dwells55′, do you know if this is a problem happening locally as well. Makes me quite concerned.

  • http://www.lazygamer.co.za Geoff
  • janrik

E74 is a local problem also.

Does it make me less satisfied by getting a new 360 for free every few months?

    No it does not.

I have 2 for that very reason.

  • Q121

I credit all the xbox satisfaction with that rumble massage app that came out….

  • Banana Hammock

Thanks, but do you think it’s a way for M$ to bypass the 3-year RROD warranty?

  • http://www.lazygamer.co.za Geoff

I don’t think they’ve specifically put code in NXE to kill consoles, no. I do think that the 360 was just a horribly designed piece of kit that was rushed to market too early – which is now biting MS in the backside.

It really is a pity, cos it’s an awesome console otherwise.

  • http://www.lazygamer.co.za LazySAGamer

Absolutely not since the vast majority of Xbox 360′s are still under warranty. It would be counter productive of Microsoft to sabotage their consoles while they are still under warranty

  • Banana Hammock

Lol i didn’t mean that they are killing the consoles, i mean do you think the machines are reporting RRoD errors as E74 errors so that consumers can’t claim on the RRoD warranty?

  • Banana Hammock

No no no, i’m not talking sabotage here at all, but let’s say a 13 month old 360 dies of RRoD (naturally) but the system reports it as E74, then the extended warranty does not apply and the consumer has to foot the repair bill.

  • SlippyMadFrog

Actualy, it’s only like 190 Xbox 360 owners (more or less) since 53.5% doesn’t own one that did the survey.

  • http://www.lazygamer.co.za Geoff

Nah, not really. Most RRoD machines aren’t able to output any display at all, on account of the GPU no longer being securely soldered.

  • Fox1

Its more expensive to have an out of warranty faulty PS3 replaced than a 360
