Ubisoft wants more (and more) Assassin’s Creed. Do You? Smoking
   January 26th, 2012 clock image 3:00 pm

ACfranchise

I love the Assassin’s Creed Franchise. Well, I fell in love with it after the second game, at any rate. Since then? There’s been a new Assassin’s Creed game every year and it seems that Ubisoft is only too happy to annualise the series. While some might feel that regular, annual iterations will only dilute the brand and led to gamer fatigue, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot believes otherwise.

The regular releases, he says, are necessary to "satisfy the demand".

"Assassin’s Creed is an incredible franchise and there are a lot of expectations that it will continue to grow," he said to MCV.

"We are pleased with our continued success so far: in the US, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was a Top Ten title for the entire calendar year, which shows that the demand is definitely there. We think that delivering regular instalments and expanding the brand to other platforms will continue to satisfy the demand, while at the same time attracting new fans.

"And we’re confident that the next instalment of Assassin’s Creed will be the biggest to date."

I have no doubt that Assassin’s Creed 3 will be the biggest and best of the series, if its evolution thus far is anything to go by – what I don;t want though is another Assassin’s Creed next year, with the same character, doing pretty much the same stuff. While there’s a heck of a lot of demand for the brand right now, gamers get sick of things quickly…except apparently, if that thing is called Call of Duty.

I really don’t want to see the franchise go the way of Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk…so I sincerely hope Ubisoft  gives us a bit of a breather between instalments.

No I am tired of this game now they have dragged it on for to long. What they should have done was wait every 2 years before releasing another damn game and I don’t know about you guys but Desmond makes me dick, I know this is his last story but I’m also hoping this is the last AC game as well.

      Desmond makes you dick?

      • Treble

        Sick I meant sick lol

    • RandomWords

I too used to Dick but then Ezio helped me through that. Lol

Hope my comment does not decrease my chances to win the comp btw lol I really want it :P

Fk Assassin. Prince of Persia for the win, you know it

I can personally not get enough of Assassin’s Creed. I finish each one and cannot wait for the next one. A yearly thing is really not bad if you keep a decent story going. I play AC and let us say it takes me a month (okay about a couple weeks normally), great the game is finished, left on a cliff hanger and now I have to wait 11 months to continue the story. Sh*t, that is a long-ass time to wait to continue the romance :)

  • http://twitter.com/D4RKL1NG Martin du preez

Yes,in fact I do want moar.
The thing is unlike Call o’ doody the AC universe is so massive that they can make 100 more games with new exciting twist and turns. I agree that they need to keep things fresh gameplay wise. ACbro and ACrev was great fillers and I loved the fact that they concluded Ezio and Altair’s stories. Because the universe is so rich it was impossible to tell their stories in just 2 games.

I have a gut feeling Ubisoft will announce ACIII this year for release November and that they were working on it since ACII was released and just had a small team using the core material they had for ACII to make Brotherhood and Revelations to keep fans happy.

Also I believe III will be a giant leap forward like II was from Ac1 (New engine, new gameplay elements, new main character). I would have died if I had to wait two years for ACIII after the ending we had in II.

So I have faith in Ubisoft to deliver one of the best games when ACIII gets announce.

I actually enjoyed Revelations, but I can see why people would scream, “Damnit.. NO MORE, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF TOM CRUISE’S HAIR PIECE.. ENOUGH ALREADY!!”

  • Treble

Well of course the new AC game will come out in Nov this year that’s what they have been doing with the last 3 and with the same character we shall see if it’s good but it is really time to move on now. They losing a lot of talented people that worked on these games

  • Jacarda

Sad to say that I have yet to play Revelations; but as long as they keep making improvements then I am all for it. If they start recycling the same thing over and over like how Modern Warfare does, then! I would have an issue.

They should throw in some new characters for the offshoot games besides Desmond; there have to be other people that have ancestors just as interesting. Two different Assassins in one persons ancestry is enough.

Storyline is what makes this series great. I still think 2 was the best in the series. Havent bought Revelations, seems like an expansion of Brotherhood. Read the storyline on wikipedia instead….ya I guess I have become THAT guy. Oh well….

AC is still an amazing franchise, but I really hope that the next one is a bit more fresh. Another thing that was so good about the jump between 1 and 2 was the enviroment. Ubisoft are so good at creating historically accurate backdrops that look amazing.

Come on Ubisoft, show me something new !!

  • Treble

Make one mistake and no one ever forgets it lol

If you don’t like yearly updates, just stop playing. You’ll see, they’ll stop, and will say they are listened to their fans.
