We’ve been worried about the Xbox 360 version of Xbox One marquee-title Titanfall since well before the game received its first delay. Then it got delayed. And delayed a second time. that’s the sort of stuff that sets alarm bells off.  Was the delay to get impatient people to buy an Xbox One, or because the 360 version is just terrible? According to the studio responsible for the port, Bluepoint games, it certainly wasn’t the latter.

“Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience: all the maps, modes, pilots, titans, weapons, burn cards, you name it, found in the Xbox One and PC versions,” explained senior producer Daryl Allison on a post on Titanfall.com

“The game looks great, sounds great, and above all it plays great. There are of course some technical differences that are due to the technical limitations of the hardware – for example, the game runs above 30fps – but rest assured, the intense 6v6 wall-running, titan dropping action is all there.”

For the most part,  the Xbox One version runs at 60 frames per second. Oddly, there have been no screenshots or footage of the 360 version officially released – despite the game being released tomorrow( in places not named South Africa). There are copies in the wild, but nobody can play the game until the Xbox 360 servers go live on April 8. Yes, you need to be signed in to the servers to even play the tutorial.

“We wanted Xbox 360 gamers playing Titanfall at the same time as everyone else, but it needed more time,” added Allison. “EA and Respawn made the right call and the extra time has paid off. Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is definitely a game that Bluepoint Games is proud of, and we’re excited for you to get your hands on it. Beginning April 8th, millions of Xbox 360 gamers around the world will hear those thrilling words ‘Your titan is good to go. Call it when ready’, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

I played it the whole weekend on pc with a ping of 200 and still managed to get into the top 3 80% of the time. The ping isnt that bad, only when the guy pops up point blank do you run into problems. The game is insanely fun and I doubt Ill be playing BF4 again!

On the down side though I had a ton of issues during the week with being unable to join the servers. Sometimes I’d get in and other times not, mostly not. Late evenings and weekends weren’t a problem at all but I did get kicked at about 18:30 yesterday and couldnt get back in.

Yea , I don’t pirate anymore , so really I have to look at money vs value , not prepared to pay 600 for a game that doesn’t work 1000% ( yes bf 4 eat a dick , paid full price for a 3 month long beta ) so I would rather wait till it’s Gana be a great time , or until titan fall 2 comes out an they drop the cloud crap

When @mteton, the MD of Microsoft SA, was recently asked “Does this mean SA will be getting local Azure servers in time for Xbox One launch?” he replied “this is at the top of our minds”. Hmmmmm………too early to get excited??

Who knows, maybe EA won’t have a hand in Titanfall 2.

Saying “Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience” seems to imply that Titanfall on PC and Xbone is not how the game is supposed to be experienced.
