Time Magazine lists it’s Top 10 videogames of the year Popular
   December 9th, 2009 clock image 6:00 am

Time Magazine is probably the most respected mass circulation magazine in the world and as such whenever they post a Top 10 of some sort people generally pay attention. When it comes to videogames though I am not sure they have the same clout.

But whether we like it or not they have put together a Top 10 list and while I agree with virtually all the inclusions I would have to seriously questions Uncharted 2′s placement and what have I missed by not ever playing Geo-Defense Swarm?

Full list after the break.

  1. Modern Warfare 2 (Multi)
  2. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Multi)
  3. DJ Hero (Multi)
  4. Borderlands (Multi)
  5. New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
  6. Geo-Defense Swarm (iPhone)
  7. Scribblenauts (DS)
  8. Halo: ODST (Xbox 360)
  9. Assassin’s Creed 2 (Multi)
  10. Uncharted 2 (PS3)

DJ Hero at number 3?

And if we really wanted to get the fanboys worked up we could point out that the Wii is obviously the superior console with the highest placed exclusive while the PS3 is the worst… but that would just be childish

  • ClericZA

Batman 1st, Uncharted 2nd, and nothing else matters. Cant we all agree that while MW2′s MP is great, the SP is completely over-rated?

    • http://www.lazygamer.co.za LazySAGamer

Nope.. I loved the SP, yeah it was short but it was still entertaining…

  • http://digitalcamo.co.za abe

Uncharted 2 is the greatest gaming experience this decade!

  • Fred

Time magazine are a bunch of xbox/wii fanboys/girls.

    • http://www.lazygamer.co.za LazySAGamer

Who hate the PSP even more than they do the PS3?

    • easy

to me it looks like time mag are a bunch of multiplat game fanboys… fence sitters, they the worst

  • Bonk

But Killzone 2 is so much better than ODST, and what about Forza 3, best driving sim this year.

  • eXp

IMO, Killzone is a terrible game but Uncharted 2 should be #1, or #2. Saying it’s better than ODST is unbelievable. I’m a GIANT Halo Fanboy but I will admit that I way preferred Uncharted 2.

Mainstream ‘best of lists’ are a pile of crap that warrant no thought for the enthusiast press. That list is probably mainly comprised of sales figures and games that got alot of press, rather than actual merit.

DJ hero at 3 is peculiar though, very peculiar.

  • Fox1

    No Forza 3 there??? :dizzy:

  • batman

That list has fail written all over it. DJ Hero, Geo-Defense Swarm, Scribblenauts and ODST … LOL

  • Milesh Bhana ZA

I’ve not played it yet, so maybe my comment isn’t 100% valid, but i thought that DJ Hero was all kinds of awesome.

  • http://www.designwave.co.za Nick de Bruyne

I actually have geo-defense swarm on my iPhone. My first ever tower defense game, it’s really good and a lot of fun but as much as I like it, I have no idea how it’s in this list.

  • SPARK ZA

as gud as mario has always been, i dont think it shoud b in the top10 or 20. but who cares bout top ten lists cos we all hav our own opinions and no1 can tell us wat we like

  • http://www.onelargeprawn.co.za onelargeprawn

Reading Time Magazine for gaming news is like having a Chippendale at a lesbian hen party.
