Time Magazine lists it's Top 10 videogames of the year

Time Magazine is probably the most respected mass circulation magazine in the world and as such whenever they post a Top 10 of some sort people generally pay attention. When it comes to videogames though I am not sure they have the same clout.

But whether we like it or not they have put together a Top 10 list and while I agree with virtually all the inclusions I would have to seriously questions Uncharted 2’s placement and what have I missed by not ever playing Geo-Defense Swarm?

Full list after the break.

  1. Modern Warfare 2 (Multi)
  2. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Multi)
  3. DJ Hero (Multi)
  4. Borderlands (Multi)
  5. New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
  6. Geo-Defense Swarm (iPhone)
  7. Scribblenauts (DS)
  8. Halo: ODST (Xbox 360)
  9. Assassin’s Creed 2 (Multi)
  10. Uncharted 2 (PS3)

DJ Hero at number 3?

And if we really wanted to get the fanboys worked up we could point out that the Wii is obviously the superior console with the highest placed exclusive while the PS3 is the worst… but that would just be childish

Batman 1st, Uncharted 2nd, and nothing else matters. Cant we all agree that while MW2’s MP is great, the SP is completely over-rated?

But Killzone 2 is so much better than ODST, and what about Forza 3, best driving sim this year.

IMO, Killzone is a terrible game but Uncharted 2 should be #1, or #2. Saying it’s better than ODST is unbelievable. I’m a GIANT Halo Fanboy but I will admit that I way preferred Uncharted 2.

Mainstream ‘best of lists’ are a pile of crap that warrant no thought for the enthusiast press. That list is probably mainly comprised of sales figures and games that got alot of press, rather than actual merit.

DJ hero at 3 is peculiar though, very peculiar.

I’ve not played it yet, so maybe my comment isn’t 100% valid, but i thought that DJ Hero was all kinds of awesome.

I actually have geo-defense swarm on my iPhone. My first ever tower defense game, it’s really good and a lot of fun but as much as I like it, I have no idea how it’s in this list.

Reading Time Magazine for gaming news is like having a Chippendale at a lesbian hen party.
