This is Assassin’s Creed 4 on the PS4 – I’m not impressed

AC4Forest

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 4 is not only coming to current systems, it’s also headed to the PlayStation 4 once that console becomes available. Ubisoft seems to have a bit of hard-on for the system’s capabilities, which they expound upon in this developer video. In between the the French accents and all the beard, you can see some footage of Black Flag running on the PlayStation 4.

What do you think? I can;t honestly say that I’m too impressed; it looks very much like current stuff, just perhaps a little sharper – pretty much like current PC games; hardly the sort of generational leap you’d expect. Of course, it’s early days, and the game won’t be out on the PlayStation 4 until at least November – so there’s still plenty of time to double-up on the eyecandy.

There’s also the fact that Youtube videos are are hardly conducive to showing off game visuals, but I can’t say I’m blown away.

What do you think?

Mmm, I didn’t see any ‘perfectly seamen less (see what I did there?!) transitions from boat to boat, land to land’ but that would be nice. I think they would have to improve on this by at least 100% to justify a launch on a next-gen model though…

DAT BEARD…. was too distracted by that beard …. but in all honesty do not care anymore for AC, for me personally, graphics still make my eyes pop but art direction is what really makes a game look beautiful. I remember when the ps3 came out there was a game called Folklore which was highly overlooked imo, but the beautiful art and style is what made me remember that game. It’s a game, come one we want to see things we will never see in real life…jeez!!! This is probably why I consider Ni No Kuni one of the best looking games this generation

Yeah, i have no doubt that as more people get to grips with things – and start building nextgen games from the ground up, we’ll be treated to some pretty impressive things.

It’s still early stages. This is nothing mind blowing yet. But I am sure that as devs start to learn more about the console things will start to change drastically. Just look at early PS3 games compared to anything new

I just think, AC is soo cookie cutter, copy and paste the game, change the locations and viola AC n+1.

I doubt they put much effort into designing everything for PS4, probably just a dirty port job.

The WiiU version is holding it back!
    On a serious note,
    I don’t care really,as long as its 60fps and 1080p

I don’t understand the hate Ubisoft get. Some of my favourite games from this generation came from Ubisoft. Rayman Legends, Splinter Cell Conviction, Farcry 3, Prince of Persia (the one people often label as 4, not the last one). I even enjoyed Rocksmith from them. I’m really looking forward to Watch Dogs as well.

They’re the one big name studio that actually responds well the their audience, takes their feedback seriously, and constantly pushes out high quality games.

I’m currently playing AC3, and am absolutely loving it.

Don’t waste your worries on this…. It’s going to take quite some time before you’ll see games look much different because for now, they must still run on the current gen consoles. I’ve always said, apart from a 1080p resoltion bump, some draw distance added and better textures, there wont be much difference from current gen, at least for multiplat games for some time to come.
There are many millions of 360’s and PS3’s out there that will still generate the bulk of sales, and they will still be prioritised.
If this was an exclusive I’d be pissed….

What I think is that they should start making Assassin’s Creed franchise games should take a bit more time, like they should release it after 2 years each. That is because the story and gameplay doesn’t bring a big difference or anything, they are becoming more like COD right now. I loved Assassin’s Creed 1, 2, Brotherhood and Revelations the most, as they focused on bringing big changes. Assassin’s Creed 3, story of connor, ended too fast. It should’ve been like 2/ 3 games about him till it ended.

The biggest change is that this will run at actual 1080P and have a smooth frame rate (locked to either 30 or 60, depending on what the PS4 can manage)
