These are the songs you’ll skate to in Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD

There was a time when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was the best skating game series on the planet. Largely because it was the only skating game series on the planet. Still, if you were playing games  over a decade ago and didn’t have insane amounts of fun with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and its first sequels there’s probably something wrong with you. Really.

For that reason, news that Tony Hawks Pro Skater would be coming to current gen consoles in a downloadable,  plastic peripheral-free HD remix was largely met with positivity – though there have been concerns that the original games’ iconic punk rock soundtracks wouldn’t make it in to the new game. The developer Robomondo has revealed the game’s full soundtrack – and though it doesn’t quite contain everything I’d wanted, it’s still pretty good.

Here’s the game’s full tracklist:

  • Bring the Noise” Anthrax featuring Chuck D
  • “Superman” Goldfinger
  • “When Worlds Collide” Powerman 5000
  • “Heavy Metal Winner” Consumed
  • “May 16″ Lagwagon
  • “No Cigar” Millencolin
  • “You” Bad Religion
  • “The Bomb” Pigeon John
  • “We the People” Lateef the Truthspeaker
  • “Marathon Mansion!” Pegasuses-XL
  • “Teenage Blood” Apex Manor
  • “Please Ask for Help” Telekinesis
  • “Flyentology (Cassettes Won’t Listen Remix)” El-P featuring Trent Reznor
  • “USA” Middle Class Rut

I’m really happy to see some old favourites return – particularly Goldfinger’s “Superman”, Lagwagon’s “May 16” and Bad Religion’s “You,” though I’ll gladly admit I have no idea who some of these new tracks are by. I am a little disappointed that Rage Against the Machine’s Guerilla Radio won’t be making a comeback – but you can’t win ‘em all. Game’s set to hit XBLA and PSN next month.

Here’s a four page interview Robomondo had with Sound and Vision on the thought processes involved in selecting the digital remix’s track selection.

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
