The downloadable re-imagining of Counter-Strike not only seeks to bridge the gap between still  feuding CS 1.6 and CS Source players, it’ll also be a lot more accommodating for newcomers who’d otherwise be turned off by the  high-level of skill required to be competitive in the game as it stands today, by including a casual mode.

No, it turn Counter-Strike in to a Facebook farming game, but rather “removes the in-game money restrictions on which weapons and items players can buy”, says project lead Id Magal. “We’re taking that competitive experience that’s very hard to organize in Counter-Strike: Source… We’ve taken that and let everyone experience the fun of a five-on-five [game] where everyone is equally matched.”

Vlve is also very quick to point out that Global Offensive is not a sequel. Instead, its aim is to bring Source and 1.6 players together. "A lot of Counter-Strike: GO is taking Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 1.6 and melding it into a product that every side likes and also expanding the base by putting it out on the consoles," Magal clarified.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will hit PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2012. the Ps3 version will support mouse and keyboard, and have cross platform play with the Mc and Pc versions – leaving the Xbox version alone in the corner.
