The Kinect Gears of War game that never was

GearsKinect

Past rumours have suggested that there was, at one point, a Kinect exclusive Gears of War game headed for the Xbox 360. That game was apparently called Gears of War Exile, and would have you using nought but motion controls. Some figured it might be an on-rails shooter – while we thought it could work better as an RTS. Looks like we may have been right.

VgLeaks has some early, alpha images of something they say was called Gears of War: Tactics. It had you drawing paths for your soldiers (seemingly lead by Baird). There’s nothing beyond the poor quality (hey, it is alpha!) that overtly screams fake – so these could the real deal, and a glimpse of what, unfortunately, might have been.

Take a loot at the gallery of images, from Vgleaks.com. On that note, the next Gears game to actually see release will be Gears of War: Judg(e)ment, which will be available on March 22.

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.

Gears of War Exile. Like if they released this people would exile their Kinects to the scrap heap. Luckily they knew better.
