The Far Cry 3 Launch: A Gallery

IMG_3595

If you’re awesome, you’re sitting at home right with the day off work, exploring Rook islands and killing most of its mental inhabitants. Yup, Far Cry 3 is out today, and we went to the launch, hosted by Ubisoft and Microsoft Sa yesterday. True to his name, LG regular Erwinning won a pretty sweet poster thing signed by the game’s developers, plus other random Far Cry 3 related baubles, while our good friend eXp_ZA (that’s Mike to his mum!) won a hoodie.

After getting faux tattoos that JUST WON’T WASH OFF, a bit of fire-dancing and a demonstration in which Xbox PR manager Graeme Selvan managed to prove he’s as good at playing video games as he is at plugging in cables (which is to say, not at all), after succumbing to the will of a wayward in-game foul fowl. The evening then became about drinking as much as we could, really.

On that note, the game is pretty amazing, getting pretty damned good review scores from everywhere, and a 9 from our own Yolanda.

Here’s a gallery of pictures, taken by our resident Wookiee Garth.

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
