BF4beta

If GTA and its online component aren’t your thing, You can start shooting dudes in the face and taking down entire buildings with a squad of strangers in the Battlefield 4 beta, which kicks off today. If you’re a Battlefield 3 premium subscriber, that is. Of course, anybody even remotely serious about Battlefield most certainly is.

The beta takes place on that now famous siege of Shanghai map in both Conquest and Domination modes, giving gamers an early taste of one of the year’s most anticipated modern combat manshoots.

Here’s the when and how of it all goes down, which platforms the beta will be available on, and when they’ll become available.

Exclusive Beta Rollout Times (October 1st):

  • PC: Live now! (yes, you need Origin, but you have it already)
  • Xbox 360 worldwide: 2-6 AM PDT (11am – 3pm SAST) <—get in on that, RIGHT NOW
  • PlayStation 3 (Europe): 7-11 AM PDT (4pm – 8pm SAST)
  • PlayStation 3 (US): 3-7 PM PDT (Midnight – 4am Wednesday SAST)

For those who haven’t jumped on the premium bandwagon, but still want to make buildings crumble, you’ll be able to enter the beta later this week.

Open Beta Rollout Times (October 4th):

  • PC: 1 AM PDT/9 AM UTC (10 am SAST)
  • Xbox 360 worldwide: 2-6 AM PDT (11am-3pm SAST)
  • PlayStation 3 (Europe): 7-11 AM PDT (4pm – 8pm SAST)
  • PlayStation 3 (US): 11 AM PDT (9pm – SAST)

Go shoot things. Me? Much more likely to be found roaming the streets of Los Santos this evening.

Wow. Avoid the BF4 PC forums. Some angry people there! (more than usual).
Seems the game needs loads of work still!

Haha do you remember BF3 beta ?! It was BROKEN, as in a complete mess. Dont see why BF4 beta would be any different. Im staying away for as long as possible

That was a mess yeah, now if only a certain Fus Ro Dah company can do a proper Beta with their games (final product on the shelves is not a beta…you know who you are)

They obviously never played an alpha. DayZ players just roll with the bugs.

Have to say, I’m always impressed with the Arma players and how they conduct themselves on their forums. Purely on anecdotal evidence, I can already assume that there must be a huge age and status gap between your average Arma player and the dirty peasants that play Battlefield….

And I say this as a huge Battlefield fan myself… but those forums… holy fuck! It’s just moaning, crying and bitching…

Logged in last night played about 3 games with the worst lag I had in a while and then turned in for the night. Not a single complaint. I wanted to post that there is some sort of lag on the forums but I am sure someone somewhere already moaned about it to the point where the developers are probably sitting in the corner of the shower eating cookies and crying.

Don’t get me wrong, you need that sort of valid criticism and you need to inform other gamers of the problems (lag, lack of enviro.destruction, funny controls etc.). My issue with the community is that it’s gone beyond being constructive to extremely toxic. I mean you have people who troll purely for the sake of trolling.

No I agree with you and I usually do (logged over 600 bugs in both the closed and open Beta for SWTOR) but posting something useful in those forums just gets swept under the rug by the sheer amount of not so useful posts.

I don’t get it why people get sand up their vagina when there are some issues with a BETA.
It would be a miracle if there was no issues. With a huge game like this the beta will help iron out the issues and do some stress testing on the servers etc.

Cant wait to get home and get my BF4 on !!!

can not agree more. That is precisely why they have a Beta to sort out issues before you fork over money.

Actually refreshing seeing how many games are released in “alpha” and or “beta” state these days.

Amen but damn the C&C alpha is rough. Got my alpha code last week and couldn’t spend more than an hour playing it as I couldn’t make it fullscreen. Annoying as fuck but I see the beta is just about ready.

Alpha and Beta relate to feature completion in the release.

Alpha – test build with some features still not complete. not always wise to release to customers for testing since lack of features can be very frustrating (ie full screen availability on all platforms)

Beta- all planned features for first release is included in the build.

Unfortunately the number of bugs is impossible to predict beforehand and especially systems like BF4 you will get loads of issue as soon as you deploy in the real world environment since it is almost impossible to simulate the real world environment during development. Unlike SP games where the environment is a single standalone machine which is easily available during development.

In any case it is much better than what they do with COD. They release a game with so many bugs and glitches it is a joke. Hence me not getting another one after Black Ops. If they want to use us for some beta testing, then say so and make it free. After the beta and the kinks are sorted I will probably buy the damn game. But alas. The same thing will happen over and over again and the masses will still flock in their millions to buy the “beta” as soon as it is released.

The amount of bile that’s flowing on the BF4 forums is shocking and hilarious. How on earth did that community become so extremely toxic? Even the COD forums aren’t that bad, and I love to read what the fisheads spew every once in a while – for a laugh.

As a Battlefield fan, it’s a real shame that our community is so terrible; just a bunch of entitled beta-males screaming and crying.

As for the beta, I’ll give it a go tomorrow. Fortunately my expectations are low. Ah! the best kind of expectation….
