Well this is something Xbox fighting game genre fans should be used to by now. While last year saw Playstation 3 owners of Mortal Kombat get to play around with a certain, very angry, God of War, Xbox purchasers were left with no exclusive character of their own, and this year looks to be a repeat as well.

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has confirmed that Xbox adopters of the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken will not have a unique console-exclusive character on their roster when the game launches.

And you can blame Microsoft for that.

“We do have the exclusive characters for the Sony platform. We have Cole, the two Sony cats, Kuro and Toro”, Ono told X360A. “But basically for the Xbox 360, we were in discussions with them (Microsoft) for which character to put in as an exclusive, but we weren’t able to decide on a character because of differences in timing and things like that.”

“So unfortunately for Street Fighter X Tekken, only the PlayStation family will be getting the exclusive characters, but it’s something we wish could have happened. It’s just too bad, basically.”

While the game already has an impressive roster of fighters available, it’s a shame that Ono never got to implement the Xbox characters that he was aiming for, as it seems that he some great ideas of who to use.”In terms of characters we wish we could have put in the game, Master Chief or Marcus Fenix from Gears of War would have been really cool”, Ono said.

Damn, sounds like my mind is made up then for which console version to get. And I was really looking forward to seeing if a Hadouken had any chance against a Lancer chainsaw rifle.
