Rugby fans are getting not one, but two new Rugby games this year. One, Rugby World Cup 2011, focuses on the upcoming international tournament and the acquisition of the Webb Ellis cup. The other, Rugby Challenge is a little more comprehensive, giving players access to the ITM Cup, Aviva Premiership, and Investec Super Rugby, TOP 14 Orange, and RaboDirect PRO12. Rugby World Cup will be releases locally next month – but there’s a bit of confusion about the local availability of Rugby Challenge.
Despite rumours and pre-order availability, none of the game’s potential local distributors has confirmed that the game will actually be released in South Africa. Take a look at the game’s official debut trailer, and keep your fingers crossed that a local distributors signs something soon – because it looks pretty fantastic. Oh, if you’re wondering why there’s a stark lack of South African players in the trailer, it’s because Rugby World Cup’s nabbed the exclusive rights to SARU players and their likenesses.
