Review – Red Dead Redemption – Legends and Killers DLC pack Popular

LegendsAndKillers.jpg

Red Dead Redemption is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of 2010 and will most definitely even be considered for Game Of The Year by many.

While the game’s huge open world, cinematic story and a myriad of side quests, challenges and multiplayer modes are enough to keep you busy for months, there is still the appeal of downloadable content to help improve the experience further.

The Legends and Killers DLC pack is now available on Xbox Live and PSN and we have tested it out to let you know if it’s worth your smackeroos.

The Legends and Killers DLC pack basically offers more content that is geared directly towards the multiplayer experience.

9 new multiplayer locations have been added, as well as the ability to select character models from the original Red Dead Revolver. Along with that an extra weapon, the tomahawk , has been added as well complete with single and multiplayer challenges. That’s pretty much everything as far as content goes, but also know that some extra achievements have been added to the pot too.

To get to the real meat of this short review, it really all comes down to just how much you play Red Dead Redemption. If you are one of those people that basically lives in Red Dead Redemption land and spends most of his days chilling with his posse or grabbing bags of gold, then this may be worth your while.

The real truth though, is that Red Dead Redemption is already a really big, long game with enough content to last a very long time. The story is long, the challenges are plentiful and the multiplayer doesn’t get old too quickly. It is in essence, one of those games that is almost a little too long for a lot of peoples liking, even though they are enjoying the experience.

It also comes down to the price. The Legends and Killers pack is priced at 800 Microsoft Points or around R75-R80 ($9.99) on PSN, and that’s a pretty steep price considering that it’s merely a few extras latched onto the multiplayer experience (for the most part).

Conclusion:

If you really love Red Dead Redemption and more specifically, it’s multiplayer component and you have seen and done it all, then you may find reason to get the extras included in the Legends and Killers pack. If however, you still have a long way to go in the single player and only dabble in the multiplayer every now and then, you won’t really be missing out on much at all.

Score: 6/10

I’m hoping for more single player DLC, although the multiplayer is fun, it’s also very limited in its scope.

It would be nice to be able to search for populated servers, whereas now, nearly half of the servers are either empty or only populated with one lone ranger picking flowers. I’m sure server allocation is probably linked to your connection speed, but I would like to have a game map filled with gunslingers, instead of having to wait for friends and asking them to join my posse.
