PlayStation 3 Skyrim DLC dated

We’ve already told you that the perpetually broken PlayStation 3 version of one of the greatest pieces of interactive digitally-aided  procrastination, The Elder Scrolls: V, would finally be getting the extra content that its Xbox and PC counterparts already have. Now we know when.

In a new post on Bethesda’s Blog, the company’s detailed when exactly people can expect the content.

This week Dragonborn, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and the 1.8 title update have all cleared certification with SCEA.

What does this mean? It means we now have the official release dates for Skyrim add on content in North America. They are:

  • Dragonborn releases Tuesday, February, 12
  • Hearthfire releases Tuesday, February, 19
  • Dawnguard releases Tuesday, February, 26

Note that these dates pertain to the US PSN, and Bethesda’s busy working with SCEE to nail down a European release. The EU PSN usually updates a day after the ‘Merican store. It’s kind of odd that each piece of DLC is being released in a wholly different order to the original releases – but the good news is that PS3 players get the best one first; Dragonborn.

In fact, it’s the only one I’d really recommend out of the lot; it feels like an actual expansion and is well worth playing. Dawnguard added some nice Vampire-centric stuff, but ended up feeling flat and Hearthfire is a essentially a giant waste of time and money, unless you really, really like playing house.

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
