I’ve had my bit to say about Nuketown 2025 being a pretty poor pre-order incentive but even in my wildest cynical dreams I didn’t expect Activision / Treyarch to pull a stunt like this.
The news was confirmed via Twitter with the game designer over at Treyarch, David Vonderhaar, tweeting
Double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. RIGHT? Don’t kill the messenger. +

But don’t panic you can still play Nuketown 2025 in a custom game with your friends where you won’t be able to rank up or play competitively..
So yeah maybe you should panic.
It’s a shoddy move by Treyarch and I’m sure they communicated this in some form or another before this happened but it isn’t really acceptable.
I realise they are removing it from the rotation so that non-pre-order people aren’t going to be affected but that is exactly why I said it was a stupid pre-order incentive in the first place. The backlash over this move is going to keep growing and I predict now that Nuketown 2025 is going to become available for everyone either for free or at a small cost.
In the meantime, it seems they’ve added the map back in to rotation.
Treyarch has added a new Black Ops 2 called “Bonus.” The mode within the playlist, “Chaos Moshpit,” says that it’lll feature “small maps with a variety of game modes,” including Nuketown 2025.
“Chaos Moshpit” also includes the maps Carrier, Cargo, Express, Hijacked, Slums, and Standoff, Treyarch multiplayer boss David Vonderhaar tweeted.
