New Xbox 360 Hard Drive Is Smaller and Hidden – All The Details Flame On

I have just come from a personal unboxing of the new Xbox 360 and there were a few things about it that came as quite a surprise.

With a Hard Drive nowhere to be seen, we had no idea if the new Xbox 360 even had a removable HDD and if so, where it actually was. All was soon revealed to me, as I asked some questions and got the answers I needed.

The hard drive can now be accessed through the base of the Xbox 360 (whilst standing up tall). There is now a hidden little section at the bottom of the Xbox 360 that can be opened, and then the hard drive itself can be slid out from inside the system itself.

The new hard drive is very small, more than half the size of the current 360 HDD and completely different in appearance.

You will be able to move your content across to the new Xbox 360 by either using the transfer kit, which will now become available in retail outlets, or you can also make use of a USB drive to move everything necessary over. For those who are capable, DLC and XBLA games can be redownloaded over Xbox Live.

    It seems the xbox 360 slim will also scratch your game disks, but to Microsoft’s defence, who in their right mind picks up a running xbox 360 (slim or otherwise), tilts it, and expects it not to mangle a spinning game disk? :blink:

    i want to buy the package that comes with kinect and the new 360.but it only comes with 4gb hard drive instead of 250. what could i do?

    i have just bought a 4gig xbox 360 pal i installed forza 3 and to instal the content disk it used up 1.9 gig of space which after the updates and stuff has left me 1.2 gig of space left on drive wish id bought the bigger hd edition im trying now to buy a bigger hard drive

    Even if it was a hot blonde with 30 double Ds you still wouldn’t be impressed because its from MS.I think like the original 360 its a timelessly designed piece of hardware looks very ‘Alienware-like’ PC gamers will love it! :alien:

    It was rumoured to be, but M$ has been mum on whether or not the new Xbox 360 S drives are in fact SSDs. I would assume for the price and the size, that they are, but with M$, you never really know.

    Fox1 will probably know.

    You can, but it involves removing the hdd from its original caddy, and jiggering it up to the new 360 S. It works, but it can be unstable unless you engineer some ghetto support.

      No as far as I know they are standard drives just smaller than before.

      I still don’t know why Solid State drives are taking so long to become dominant… they may cost more but they are also so much faster and more awesome :)
